I'm not a meteorologist, I'm an electronics engineer. While I can probably fix your toaster oven, you're not going to learn about storms from me!

New Mexico had no hurricanes. Then I moved to NC right before Fran.....

Long time lurker here. Can someone explain why the radar does not show the rain on the east side of the eye, but does show storms in the bands the same distance away to the north, south and west of the radar station?

It might landfall in Wilmington after all. Big north component those frames.

The radar doesn’t reach out that far. Bands come into view as they come into range.

Has it turned more northerly? Looks like it’s lost the easterly component but maybe it’s just an illusion on that radar.

Someone tell me what we’re seeing.

Amazing the lack of interest when it’s closest to potential landfall.

Wobbling around, hopefully it does indeed stay offshore Wilmington.

Heading NE, could see a potential landfall somewhere east of Morehead City

Completing a left wobble. See water vapor loop. Probably no landfall here as the coast curves back north.
Perhaps at Cape Lookout or east of there.

You still have power?
There are probably some 65 mph winds in those feeder bands, you can hear them coming.
Check out the velocity vector lengths..

Definitely took a big jog north. Might still miss but it's gonna be close. Hurricane force winds should be hitting the shore soon.
