96 and 94 both would have been big threats if they had not died. Ridging did show up the hurricanes just did not.


Agreed about at least 96. Based on the current strong E US ridge, which was well predicted, 96L was always considered a threat to the CONUS had it become a TC and moved near or south of the GAs. Well, it stayed weak and has come in south of the GAs after all. Had it developed and still come in about where it is now, it would likely now be a big FL and/or US Gulf coast threat as it would be caught under the current big ridge.
Humberto didn't because of timing because the ridges typically break down after a few days even if a subsequent ridge appears. It currently appears Jerry will also miss due to a breakdown of the current strong ridge (it appears to be too far east to get caught under the ridge, which has been well predicted though Jerry is not quite a totally done deal just yet as per the small number of EPS members which still threaten the CONUS.
