Hot Halloween Costume in Chicago!

#1 Postby azskyman » Thu Oct 23, 2003 8:44 pm

Got an IM from a former employee of mine who lives in Chicago. Interestingly, although not a surprise, the "hot costume" this Halloween in that city is none other than the poor fellow who reached for the ball in game six of the Cubs/Marlins playoff series.

Hope he makes a lot of money on the costumes and all the other negative publicity since then, but the Steve Bartman look is definitely "in" for this year's Halloween parties.

Any hot costumes in your cities and towns?

Seems like "Ahnold" would be big in California.

I feel sorry for Steve Bartman.

Anywho, I have noticed that Sponge Bob seems to be hot this year. My 2 year old nephew is going to be Sponge Bob.

I remember when the California Raisin was a hot Halloween costume. lol.

Steve - I feel sorry for him too but can also see many people wanting to be him for Halloween parties. The few H. adult parties I've been to were twisted (and boring, really). You didn't just have a witch but she was a demented witch. You couldn't just have Dracula, he was some other crazy configuration. I'm not creative in this department......LOL So I'm so out of loop when it comes to stuff like this. Haven't heard of anything local here in Cincinnati. We did joke the Reds had a fire sale this past summer. Sad, but true. We ended up with a bunch of players, all young and some from fresh from farm teams. So if someone had a good imagination, they could run with that idea. A ballclub gone mad!

And the Yankees got our Aaron Boone! That made us hopping mad, he was very popular here.

Just a few years ago I had at least 20 Harry Potter's come to the door! Guess we'll see what's popular this year with kids.

We have to go costume shopping ASAP. We have a halloween party to go to tuesday night at cub scouts.

Hmm, a big cardboard box, some paint....SPONGE BOB! Actually I'd rather be squidward. He fits my personality better.

One neighborhood couple came up with a joint costume once - they bought black sweatpants and sweatshirts. Bought glow in the dark masking tape or similar type tape. Painted their faces white and used the tape to creat bones. Wait maybe their faces were black....I forget now. You get the idea hopefully. Walking in the door they looked like 2 skeletons. Helps if the party is dark too. Afterwards, they had new sweats too! Wife said, it was cheap, cheap. She just looked at a book to see where the bones went. And she cut the tape to the shape of bones. A lot of work went into those designs!

I thought it was a clever idea but I will say my husband said - boring, boring, don't you ever expect me to wear a costume like that! LOL
