Almost like Lorenzo knows recon is coming

This post was probably an opinion of mine, and in no way is official. Please refer to http://www.hurricanes.gov for official tropical analysis and advisories.

so 125 kt then, right?
Probably peaked in the infamous 125-135 knot range.

They will find a slightly ragged eye on its northwest quad. It is ashame that Lorenzo likely peaked out last night probably at 135-140 kts. Man I wished Recon had been in there at that time.
Lorenzo definitely an incredible tropical cyclone , still made history out there in the Eastern Tropical Atlantic!

what does CMG and CDG mean?
Cold medium gray (second coldest cloud top color, there's a lot of it) and cold dark gray (coldest cloud top, a pixel or two has popped up occasionally). For reference, if there was a solid CDG ring we'd have an easy T8.0.
IIRC the only easy T8.0 in recent times were Haiyan and Patricia right?
If by easy T8 you mean a CDG/WMG storm then perhaps Nuri 2014

I suspect that they may be dealing with a technical issue with a piece of equipment on the plane.

That should not happen in this day and age. Shades of El Faro, but at least it mentioned they were on a life raft.

14 were on board the ship. It's uncertain the condition or status right now. This is something you'd expect in 1919, not 2019.

Its like when flight going to Willa in 2018 turned back due to a thunderbolt hit on the plane and we never knew its true intensity with the difference that Lorenzo already peaked many hour back.

Rescuing and recovery from a ship is much more important though.

Re: ATL: LORENZO - Hurricane - Discussion
Aside from this sad event (that I hope everyone is safe), Lorenzo may not reach category 5 but he has already surpassed expectations being a super strong category 4

Yeah. And it wouldn't be much of a disappointment anyway because it has already peaked.

While there have been major advances in technology in the last 100 years one things remains constant. Human error. Wait to long to get out of a storms path or underestimating the conditions it will produce can prove fatal. Hope they are found safe.
