While Monday felt nice, today is just awesome, and Saturday looks awesome as well. Monday is looking warmer with mid 80s ahead of another cold front, so the bouncy house weather continues

The ensembles and OP guidance are all giving hints of another continental trough 7-10 day period. Probably another cold (relative) blast. Might be in similar fashion as to what is occurring now.

I'm not completely sure, but I think we are getting hints of the winter pattern. Warm Northeast Pacific SST's (further offshore than past few years) is diving energy into the interior west and digging a trough into the Great Plains. But not gaining much further umph once east of Mississippi River.

Expecting a chilly Halloween this year.

...FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 9 AM CDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures between 29 and 32 degrees
expected.

* WHERE...Central, east central, northern, northwest, southeast,
southern, southwest and western Oklahoma and northern Texas.

* WHEN...From 3 AM to 9 AM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing

.SHORT TERM (Tonight through Saturday Night)...
Temperatures across the region remain in the 40s and 50s due to
persistent cloud cover and strong cold air advection. Although
temperatures this afternoon are in the 40s and 50s at our climate
sites, the daily highs will be in the 80s which was our temperatures
at midnight. Scattered light rain and isolated thunderstorms continue
mainly across the northern CWA and will show PoPs in the afternoon
mainly in these locations. Rain chances will end from west to east
and will show just a small area of PoPs in the northeastern counties
through 03z. Breezy winds will remain across the I35 corridor and
will keep the Wind Advisory going for the corridor and cancel it in
the west where winds are weaker. The rest of the overnight period
will be dry with cloud cover likely continuing. Forecast lows tonight
are much lower than what the blends are showing and will show lows
in the 40s across most of the area.

For tomorrow, temperatures will remain well below normal with highs
reaching the 60s with mostly cloudy skies. Mostly dry conditions will
prevail tomorrow, but some of the high-res models show some isolated
showers across the extreme western CWA. For tomorrow night, lows will
bottom out in the 50s with mostly cloudy skies continuing.

.LONG TERM (Sunday through Friday)...
South flow will return by Sunday and temperatures will begin to
moderate with highs back into the upper 70s to near 80s. Rain chances
will return to the area Monday as a weak disturbance moves near the
area. The GFS remains wetter than the ECMWF and will keep PoPs at 20
percent. Rain chances will increase mid-week as a weak front
approaches the area. This front will drop temps from 80s and 90s
Tuesday back down into the 70s and 80s Wednesday. One thing for sure,
this front will not be as strong as today`s front. Temperatures will
then moderate by Friday with low rain chances continuing.

I checked my rain barrel I emptied and cleaned out this past weekend. It's FULL now!

Apparently 0.5" is all I need to fill a 75-gallon barrel. Amazing how much water comes off of a roof!

I hope nothing develops in the Gulf next week. If it does and tracks east of us, there won't be much moisture to interact with the next storm system.
