What a night. I'm sitting in my car charging my phone down the block from my house, parked as close as I could get with all the debris in the roads. Had to go off-roading over medians and through alleys and down the wrong way on roads to get to my house from work. I work in University Park... Live in southeast Richardson right next to Richland College. It's a surreal scene here.

My house was hit directly by the tornado. My partner and our pets rode it out in the bathtub... Which was not a great place because it's against an exterior wall but they got lucky. The room next to it had a window smashed, glass and twigs and debris all through that room and through the hallway. The tree hanging over them took out the fence instead ... All of our trees are gone. Our next door neighbors lost their entire roof, part of their roof crushed my other car parked out front. Our garage has a hole in the exterior wall and in the roof, and the ceiling in the garage collapsed from rainwater during the second round of storms... There are lots of holes in the attic and the beams of the roof are partially separated. We're staying here tonight, but I imagine it will be a long time before we can get the roof repaired and the electricity turned back on.

We were lucky to only lose parts of the roof and some windows and most of the yard and my spare old beater Honda.... The house next door is a total loss.

I'm phone posting but I'll try to get some photos uploaded. We're all safe here but some neighbors are searching for missing pets.

Did not expect in a million years that my house would actually be hit by a tornado. Thankful that it appears to be EF1-EF2 damage from what I can tell.

A Home Depot on Hwy. 75 in the University Park area was demolished.

From the tornado path, and what I heard last night, I would say not near University Park. University Park is south of there. This is most likely the one near Forest and 75.

Royal Ln to the west and Greenville Ave to the NE are closed

Daylight is showing well some of the damage. I would guess EF3 just eyeballing some of the worst I have seen.

Since 2010 the area from North-Northeast Dallas County, South-Southeast Collin county has been a magnet for severe weather damage.

From images I've seen I think this was a strong EF2, could have touched on EF3 for a brief moment a few times based on scattered house that have been leveled and tree damage.
I wont be surprised for the NWS team to determine there was more than one tornado involved.

Crazy evening....more storms are in the forecast for Thursday into Friday.

somethingfunny, prayers my friend. Hope you’re able to get home repairs quickly.

So glad there were no fatalities. On our way back from Austin, my wife and I drove through that area less than two hours before the tornado hit. Remember looking west and seeing thunderstorms blowing up. I was like, “Well, whatever this severe weather outbreak is going to be, here we go.”

Hard to believe a twister went through the heart of North Dallas, did that much damage, and yet caused few if any significant injuries. That’s a miracle.

DFW is such a large metropolitan area that continues to expand and develop that its not a matter of if, but when we see a major severe weather event unfold.

Imagine something like the Moore OK, or Joplin MO tornado event happening in the heart of DFW, it would be a devastating event to stay the least.

If you have the chance to attend the Texas Severe Storms Conference in Colleyville please do, every year they discuss such an event happening, and how to not only prepare but how to deal with a large scale tornadic event.

Damage photos and videos are just unreal in places. I know it wasn’t a Moore or Joplin strength tornado. But the more I’ve seen, it’s even harder to believe no one was killed or seriously hurt. I suppose in the final analysis, for the most part, the NWS and local media did a good job on getting the warnings out.
