Did someone say Kohl's? Dennis - I love that store! I can always find something to wear there and the best part is - it's ALL on sale, with discount prices displayed. No more figuring out the math, not my area of expertise ya know! I've joked that if I could just win the lotto tomorrow, I'd go nuts at Kohl's, LL Bean, Land's End and Eddie Bauer. I prefer casual clothes, but brands that are dependable (like Lee for example) or of course LE - probably my favorite of all of them. I wish I could just buy the whole catalog!!!

Now all of that said, I have a snobby sister-in-law, one out of 4, but she by far is the worst when it comes to social image, who recently put down Kohl's. Said - it's barely above a KMart. Mmmmm, I said - oh I beg to differ with you, it's way above KMart! Sure you're not going to find that $200+ designer dress for that society function (her life, not mine) but I say you can always find those. Go to Talbot's will ya and leave me be at my Kohl's!!! I've been miffed at her ever since! She shops at - I'm tilting my head as I type this - exclusive, designer shops only. Ugh!!!! Give me Kohl's anyday. We also buy our shoes there. Great deals!

Mary

PS - pssst, if you look at my gallery picture, at our family xmas photo from last year, I had on a wool blend/angora sweater, with snowmen on it. It's Kohl's brand (Croft & Barrow), and I got it on sale before the season started, at only 18 bucks!!! Then I found the perfect navy turtleneck with a single white snowflake on it, at all places - KMart! So here I was hosting xmas last year, wearing my $18 sweater, $5 turtleneck and $28 khaki's (Lee's, from Kohl's!!!) - standing next to Jim's sister. Wearing her $400 outfit! Mine was under $75 probably. I had many compliments too. They thought the turtleneck came with the sweater and was purchased at an exclusive boutique. Ha!!! I just walked away and smiled and smiled!!! Cha-ching!!!

MOMMY GOT A NEW TOY!!!!

Thanks Blizzard for your input - I ended up with a Compaq Presario. I owned one before as well. I've seen mixed reviews (either people raved about them or thought they were junk) with the eMachines and I wasn't comfortable that it was an AMD processor, not Intel and that there was no Internet support service YET. It sounds like they are an up and coming company though.

I bought mine at Sam's Club - $580 for system, monitor and speakers. It has a combo CD-RW/DVD Rom drive 3 1/2 diskette drive, 60 GB hard drive, 2.4 processing speed and 256 MB RAM. Marty came home from the gym last night and saw me unpacking it and said "that money was burning a hole in your pocket huh??" I have it all hooked up and I'll install some software and talk to you guys tonight on it.

I'm glad that you liked Kohl's Dennis and I love Burlington Coat Factory as well. Both stores have quality clothes and home accessories - much like you would see in Macy's, etc. but the prices are WAY better. I would also go nuts too if Eddie Bauer and Land's End started showing up there as well.

Well, that's it for now guys. Have a great one!

well, the week from he(double-hockey sticks) is over! wahoo! :ggreen: Thank goodness!!!! My professors just kept adding on assignments  and the only GOOD thing that came out of this week is PAYDAY! (which is today) :D :D Anything that I have due is highlighted yellow in my planner.....just think of the page for Thursday and Friday....all Yellow.  I had so many assignments due on Thursday and Friday that I was scrapping for study time to get everything done, but thankfully, all done, and handed in! Major Relief!!! :ggreen: Yes, I did get a chance for sleep each night. I budgeted my time (between work and classes) during the day that way I could rest at night.

What's with computers crashing? :?:  My Laptop went last month and I purchased a new laptop about a couple weeks ago. I had a compaq presario 1200 notebook, and would not go back to that brand....had too many problems to mention. We have a compaq presario dinosaur at home and it is slower than crap! 56K modem, and thanks to my brother, the memory is going. The new laptop that I purchased is a Toshiba....I love it!

Dennis, I used to work at Kohls over the holidays last year.... I practically lived there....it was (and still is) my favorite place to shop! I actually can find jeans that are long enough (which is purely amazing!) We have 3 Kohl's stores around the Fox Valley and 2 in Green Bay. There is a Kohls store 10 minutes from my mom's house! 5 minutes from my dad's house!!! :D

Mary, I know what you mean about ca-ching! I have plenty of clothing from Kohls that I'll wear when I need to be dressy (not street clothes) and I receive plenty of comments! Bargain shopping is my friend... maybe spent $50 on the entire outfit (including pants and blouses) and I'm nit picky about what I wear.

My goodness Jacki....busy, busy, busy! I guess we won't interrupt your sleeping habits.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone!

I can now walk to the new Kohls from home. Sure you won't be surprised we bought Emma three new winter jammies on our first trip to the store!

Computers are supposed to be our friends, whatever brand. But to help them stay on my good side, I did get one with the CD burner so I can save all my important stuff (my entire life's work can be saved on a $.39 CD in less than 12 seconds).

I've had to rebuild every computer I have ever owned...from a blank hard drive on up in some cases. So, we stay friends in spite of their bad behavior as long as they let me reload my word and excel files once we're up and running again.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Gggood Mmmorning!

Autumn temps have FINALLY arrived to the mountains, it's a *nice* 24.3° at the moment :o A wind advisory AND a "wildfire" watch/warning is in effect until tomorrow evening, I've "never" heard of a wildfire warning issued this time of year :o stands to reason though, the dewpoint at the moment.......12 :o :o :o talk about DRY!

Thanks for ALL the help splittin' and stackin' the wood, "No....that's OK, I'm fine, DOOOON'T you worry 'bout me, really, I'm fine!" "LOL!" Like I said, we cut our own aspen, spruce etc......let me tell ya's, splittin' juniper is like splittin' concrete :o HARD??? Man is that wood hard, but OH does it smell WONDERFUL! Remember what pencils use to smell like when we were kids (I'm talking to those of us over 40 here!)?? There's no better smell than juniper.......WELLLLLL, maybe Thanksgiving morning 8-)

I still can't get over the Kohls in Flagstaff, what a BEAUTIFUL store, they moved into the old SuperKmart store just off the I-40, I-17 junction, it's a HUGE store, I would venture to say at least 70,000+ sq. ft. :o We're headin' back to Flag in a few weeks to finish up the Christmas shopping, not so much at Kohls, at Micheals.....that's ANOTHER great store, with all the wood working projects I've got going on for the holidays  I'm making Christmas presents again this year.......I've always made each family one gift...this year it's a ???????

Well folks, I need another cuppa Joe and stoke the true pot belly, can ya smell the juniper burning??

Dennis 8-)

Well, it appears I didn't get the job I interviewsd for the other day. :x :( Oh well, God still has a plan and he is still working. I must be patient!!!

Our weather is going downhill fast. It has just started storming here. fortunatley it looks worse on the radar than it actually is. I think the bad part is South of us by a mile, but it is POURING right now. Already had 0.1" in about 3 minutes. Hope it slows a little!! We do need the rain though. Well that was short lived as far as pouring rain is concerned, but it is still rumbling. Looks to be an inside day in Houston!!

Not a lot to pass on here. But, be sure you check the Prayer Warriors thread.

24.3º Dennis?!?!?! Wasn't it 85º yesterday? DANG!!!! We're only expecting 45ºm which is plenty cool enough for us lightweights(Hey, I'm not talking real weight!!!  ) Speaking of which, I am back on the South Beach diet and the weight is starting to drop again. Now, I f I can just control my later night urges!!!!!!   Sorry I couldn't help with the wood Dennis. Ya know, bad back and all. We went to gas logs last year since we really so rarely have a need for a fire to burn. It is so much cleaner too! I always swore I'd never go with the gas, but it just made so much more sense for us.

Ya'll have a GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Good Evening gang!

Jackie - I missed your earlier post about work. If you're an hourly person, at least it's a few more dollars in your wallet!

My new PC is great - now. As soon as I dialed into the the internet on Thursday night to check it, it seems that the Blaster worm that's out there now attacking Windows XP systems hit mine. I was on the phone last night for an hour and a half with Compaq support restoring my computer and downloading the patches. I was almost afraid of turning it on this morning!! I have my Norton Antivirus up and running now too so HOPEFULLY I won't have any more problems. The screen on this PC is huge - it's almost like looking at a television.

I donated my old PC to Goodwill so at least I'll get a tax deduction. I had called a company Marty and I had both used to service our PC's to see if they would buy it for parts, but no such luck.

David - I'm sorry that you didn't get that job. God has bigger and better things in store for you, just wait!!

I was outside this afternoon for a little bit putting some of the compost I had into my gardens. I just dumped a shovel-full and scratched it into the mulch and the to of the soil. I haven't been outside in about 3 weeks and I was hoping that the compost was alright. I hadn't been out to stir it or add any water, but it looked great! Now to start a new batch with the dry leaves, pine needles, dead annuals and weeds I gathered today for the Spring!

I hope everyone has a great evening! :D

Yes I am hourly, too bad I dont see that money, it all goes to bills!!! :grrr:

I tell ya, if it isn't one thing, it is 15 others!!! My step-dad went to get me a tire for the one that was flat, and got the wrong size, so I have to make it work until next payday, and my brother only made my exhaust BARELY quieter, so I will probably still get pulled over! Ugh, when will it ever end!!! I'll tell you when, when I light a match and TORCH THAT PIECE OF CRAP!!!!!!!! Oops, that was awfully bitter of me!! (Gotta love sarcasm!)

Well, the slavedrivers (lol) saw it fit to let me keep my Sunday off, so I better enjoy it because it'll probably be two weeks before I see another day off!!

Going to catch up.... later y'all!

Good Morning!

What terrrible news coming out of California this morning....over 13 people killed, 800+ homes burned to the ground, some 250,000 acres lost and MORE high winds in the forecast for the rest of the WEEK! May God have mercy on these poor people.

A very eventful weekend, I can't WAIT to go back to work and get some rest "LOL!" A "MAJOR, MAJOR" honeydo weekend, instead of Spring cleaning, we did fall cleaning. We've been in this house for a year and a half, when we moved in, we just kinda shoved everything into the kitchen cabinets, closets, shed, workshop etc, etc. WELL...I went looking for something Saturday morning, couldn't find it, got mad and started rearranging the WHOLE HOUSE, workshop! Michelle got the bug and we both worked for 2 days STRAIGHT moving, straighting and taking stuff to St. Vincent De Pauls Thrift Store, they LOVED us there "LOL!" Now.....I can't find ANYTHING "ROFLMAO!"

Anyways, Jacki.....you NEED to slow down girl, it's showin' in your posts!! Just Kidding, I know you have to do what you have to do, right? Just take care!

David, I'm sorry to hear about your job but as it's been said, the Lord has something BIGGER and BETTER waiting in the wings, we all know the Lord does things in His time, not ours and His time is ALWAYS slower than ours, it's a test of Faith!

The new 'puter sounds like a nice one Stephanie, enjoy!

The weather has REALLY done a 360° turn about.....3 days ago the high was 85°+, yesterdays high, 51° with a BLUE north wind AND.......maybe, just MAYBE some SNOW by Saturday, Sunday! Keeping the fingers crossed!

Well, off to read the paper and have another cuppa Joe, make it a GREAT day would ya's?

Surprise Surprise.....4" of snow yesterday and into last night. Didn't expect that. I guess if I would have watched the news at all this weekend, I would have had a clue. But I was out of town and didn't care to see any television. Just getting away from everything. Still 37 degrees out there right now and calling for more snow over the next three days. I am not ready for this......Yikes.

Thank God for this nice warm stove. Hope all is well with everyone else, catch y'all later

Hello all. I continue to be horrified at scenes coming out of S. California. My heart goes out to those poor folks. The scenes/pictures/stories are just heartbreaking.

Hope your family is out of harm's path Steve.

Night everyone!

Sad scenes out of my area indeed. The only bright spot is that, so far; my county is not affected. *knocks on wood* I guess the wind shift is a good thing - but only for some areas; as the winds are now blowing the fires up into the mountains.

you can have it.....don't want to see it here in the Fox Cities. My step dad was driving out to Medford, wi and had a rain/snow mix on the way out from menasha.

Chilly conditions around campus yesterday and today. With the windy conditions that we have been having, I'm surprised any leaves are still on the trees.

Had a doctors appt today to get an approval to see the podiatrist about my left foot. today was mainly x-rays, friday is the actually appt with the podiatrist. shear pain when I am wearing sandals on the pool deck...hard to walk at times. From what my primary doc was mentioning, they may give me cortizone shots in the joint around my ankle. I have a extra bone, which is highly contributing to the pain in my left foot.

This week has mainly been light on the Homework (thank goodness!!) ....stats exam next week tuesday. Env Systems take home given out on Friday due on Wednesday.

Hey all!!!

Well, the hard work is FINALLY over!! Today, we opened WalMart store #5115! And boy was it busy! Still wayyyyy loaded on the hours becuase opening week is a killer, and I don't have a day off until Monday, but I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel at least! But 5am mornings until Saturday, blech!

Shannon.....the wind is down here too, especially last night! I left for work around 4:30 this morning, and obviously it was still dark so I didn't notice, but our trees are stripped! (and I can't find the sidewalk!)

I have been at work for most of my awake hours, so I haven't followed the news very much, but I have heard about the situation in CA and saw some pictures, and it really put a knot in my stomach! God bless those people- they will need HIS support in the coming days!!

Well, off to do housework- haven't been home when it was still daylight in a few days, good day to get it done! Hope the rest of your "hump" day goes good!

pojo, it has been my experience that you guys in the fox valley get our weather after we get it, so brace yourself or maybe you got lucky this time.

Let's hope anyway, huh?

Well seems the PBS has been slow this week - wonder if its because of all the warm weather. Not much happening here - Halloween is tomorrow so taking daugther trick or treating.

Seems like this year - I'm just not in the season - usually I decorate and do all kinds of stuff for Halloween. Being sick for the whole month didn't help either.

David how is your new job going? Now you can join us back on the rat-race bandwagon. Just got the news that we have to work the next three weekends - mandatory - so much for resting.....

I think I'll make me a cold glass of water and enjoy the upper 80 degree temps we are having again.

It usually takes about a day for the weather that you guys have to affect us. We have a warm front moving through today :D so that will be a nice change from the windy conditions.

Yeah David, how is that new job going?

It is warm here today. (Low 80's) I am ready for the cold weather. I will take some of that snow or even the cold. lol. When it snows here it is a BIG DEAL!!! It is very rare let me tell ya. ticka, I think it is funny that some people have to bundle up while we in the South are still wearing shorts. lol.

We do not have a Kohl's around here. I have been to one in Roswell, GA. IMO, it is just an overpriced Walmart. I love the Burlington Coat Factory. They have great stuff at great prices. We do not have one here either. I have to go to Florida to shop there and make it a point to do so every Christmas shopping season.

Many prayers going out to the people in CA. A local family here have children and grandkids there and they have lost everything. I went to JC Penney at lunch and bought the two babies some clothes and brought it to the Grandparents. They are shipping it out via UPS. UPS is not charging them to ship. I thought that was special!! When I rang the doorbell and the Grandmother opened the door she put her hands to her mouth and said, "Bless you child" Poor thing was packing up all kinds of things all by themselves. So, I pitched in to help them pack. I believe I am addicted to the feeling you get when you help someone in need. It is a fantastic feeling!!!

Steph!! I am praying for you today girlfriend!! Stay safe.

Hope everyone has a Blessed day!! (((HUGS)))

You mean the Burlington Coat Factory isn't just coats?! I seriously didn't know, but there is one around here somewhere so I may just have to check it out!

Well, I am on a break from work...doing a swing shift today, see what happens when I say the hard part is over?? I think I will head outside while it is still nice and vaccum out my car, due to my broken window it has been serving as an Asian Beetle Cemetary!!!!! Catch you all later!!
