Well I hope that really happens, I want the very cold temperatures to come back at least, but if there will be chance of above average snow I will look close to all coming front colds

I am leaning heavy on a 13-15 type winter with best chances for winter fun before Christmas and after Valentines Day. We will see a winter dominated by -EPO so cold will come and when the PNA is neutral we will see winter storm chances. This season I think we will see it more - so at least storms will be to our west so we will always have a chance. +PNA is the worst because everything is east of Texas. Later winter could be very interesting if we can get consistent Atlantic blocking.

This season looks great for the area between I-25, I-35, I-70 and I-20 especially the NW half of that area.

Y'all don't be envious of Southern California, just a few minutes from L.A.

Welcome to Meteorological Winter!
With meteorological winter now officially upon here and fall thread subsequently closing, I’m going to buck the trends of naysayers and go all in on DFW winter 19/20.
For every inch of snow recorded at my house this winter (and I’ll throw in Spring for fun) I’ll donate $10 to storm2k for the inevitable fun I will have on here, no limit. I’ll even count sleet just because I love winter weather.
Just a few years back (ok maybe a couple more) that would be 200 bucks. I think the drought ends this year and we return to a snowy pattern. Let’s have some fun shall we?!?!?!

A friend of mine recently moved to Frazier Park California, from here in Lafayette La. They get some snow, but not much. She was greeted with 2 feet of snow on Thanksgiving day. She texted and called me all day long. She soaked it in like a child. Yesterday she was exhausted from the experience, lol

I think most of us this forum know better than to take a snow map that far out as gospel. Agreed it is nice to see and it should add a little spark to a stagnant forum. Heck, it is all we have to look at right now. Today will be the coolest day until after the 10th or so with many 40's/60's the first third of the month. Captin Crunch mentioned mid month as a time to look for and that appears correct. Winter is a long way from over my friends. It will get cold again, I promise!!!!

Back in mid-Nov the start of December looked really interesting but that is the way it goes with long range forecasting. Now it looks like we will have to wait out lower heights over Greenland and the NE Pacific, as the ensembles show a somewhat stagnant pattern into mid-month.
