Been so busy watching for snow in DC next week that I didn't realize I will be getting severe weather tomorrow lol.

Re: Texas Winter 2019-2020
no good news on the 0z models... GFS/Euro agree that temps will basically warmup from here all the way to Christmas and right now agree on widespread 70s Christmas Day(and not as much rain as once thought)... the idea of turning colder after is still there though
its a big torch, wet Christmas way up into the midwest

The fortifications I made on my Canadian wall in late November seem to be working. We're planning a bike ride for Christmas day - in shorts and short-sleeves.

The air feels great this morning. Enjoy while you can, it's the last good front for a while. Looks like some low 60's for Christmas day at last check. Not great but not terrible either.

Funniest comment I've seen all week.lol But yeah, this sucks. This is just like what happened that year Nuri gave us a deep freeze in November, then it was a torch in December through February. Then we had some late season freezes in March.smh

Started off with fog and drizzle in the 50s, now misty and in the 40s. We need significant rain though badly to replenish our soil moisture. It never fully recovered from the July through September Ridge O' Death.

This upcoming stretch is a bit of a bore but still expect a pattern flip as we move into January.

I'm getting very worried about my area of the state and our worsening drought. These frontal passages, like this morning's, offer a little drizzle and that's it. If we are not able to get a pattern switch and better moisture, I'm telling you guys that we'll be a tinderbox this spring. I love wintry weather as much as anyone but I'm desperate for us getting some rain events.

January will help us a little bit with rain with 3” of rain rather than 2” but doesn’t seem to help with the massive drought we currently have

Completely agree with you Porta. It's been so dry around here lately...I don't remember the last time we had over 1 inch of rain. San Antonio is now running a rainfall deficit for 2019 approaching 10 inches.

The interesting thing about drought is that it's a slow process, almost unnoticeable. You notice a few dry fronts move through. Feels great outside! The ground looks a little dry, but it feels nice!

Breezy south winds come in for a couple days as the storm to the north passes east, bringing in some moisture and humidity. Get some pre-frontal moisture, mist/drizzle or a passing shower (thundershower if lucky), before the front scours it out, and NW winds of 25mph kick up some Cedar spores and dust from various places, coating everything outside.
Or worse, you get a southwest wind before the front (depending on energy placement), which dries it out further. Then looking at your yard and surrounding area, you realize it's been dry lately, and we could use some rain. Some weak fronts move through, repeating the process in a seemingly never-ending loop. Then drought reality sets in.

Not sure what the wildflower season will be like given the relatively dry Fall we have had. I'm hoping there will be a pattern shift in our favor, but not sure if that'll happen. I'm turning on my water periodically to keep my grass from becoming a tinderbox. Can't rely on mother nature this year aside from some drizzle/sleet, etc.
I love it when the fronts move through with a large line of rain and thunderstorms that put down 1 to 2 inches each time. The air is cool, moist and clear/clean afterwards, with sunshine for a few days. but not completely dry. Those are awesome! We just don't have the right pattern now I guess. Hmmm. May have to wait this pattern out unfortunately for who knows how long(?).

GFS keeps trying to bring cold air down a few days after Christmas. Let's see if that continues. All may not be lost.
