Merry Christmas everyone!

Hope your December 25th was spent reflecting on the day’s meaning, some time spent with family and friends, opening up gifts, and sharing some great food. All of the above took place for my family today and I feel richly blessed, unwelcome warmth or not!

May all of us in Texas be opening a gift of cold air and snow soon, just like the White Christmas we had here in Denison back in 2012!

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

Merry Christmas storm2k!!

It was awesome. Predicted to be maybe a 0.5 inch event that evening but it snowed all afternoon adding up to around 3 inches.

Watching the GFS around Jan 4 for SE Tx. That upper level low dips right into our sweetspot for winter weather, (just south of the big bend area.) Doesnt quite enough cold air with it, but a slight change in some of the dynamics and it could be a winter storm for TX

Models have been struggling with that system but all tend to agree on no decent cold air. A few days ago the Euro had that as a big rainmaker for most of Texas but seems to be trending away from that. Hope that DFW can still pull some rain out of this weekends system, which also looked like a decent rainmaker in the medium range.

The GFS has been hinting for the last 3 runs or so of a motherload of cold coming down around January 11th. The 12Z run indicates it as well. That's fairly consistent, especially for that far out. Anyone else notice this?

I completely trust the 384-hr panel of the GFS.

My point is, this is not the first time it has indicated this during this time frame. Just throwing it out there, sir.

its hard for me to get interested in anything wintry when even the rain events are turning into almost nothing

the Saturday rain that actually looked good looks to be trending into a mostly east of us event again

Something I noticed but a few of the EPS members(I counted about 10 out of 50) have a little snow for DFW

Nada on the GEFS or anything else but just interesting

Perfect bicycle riding weather... :D

————

@RyanMaue — Currently -54°F in Bettles, Alaska -- nearly record cold for both Dec 26th & 27th. About as cold as it can get in December up there.

Warm one this morning. I always love it when the low temp is the normal high. It's actually warm across the country today so we are not alone. Where is winter??????
