Last night, the 31st of January, the Florida Keys and South Florida was hit by an intense line of storms that appeared to have a closed low and obvious spin on radar and satellite. This system prompted countless special marine warnings, several severe thunderstorm warnings and at least one tornado warning. The center made land fall at the tip of South Florida.
I will upload the satellite loop shortly. Unfortunately I did not save the radar loop from when it made landfall.
It appeared to start out as a cold front line and developed a closed low and appears(in my amateur eyes) to have separated from the associated cold front. I would like some expert opinions on this system.

I feel like that was similar to the MCS blobs we sometimes get that form in the Gulf and track over the peninsula, usually in March-April.

Re: South Florida and Keys hit with possible STS
It definitely wasn't a tropical system. It was a mesoscale convective system, the type normally seen in the Plains in the spring and summer. They are just unusual in Florida since there isn't sufficient forcing.
