Re: BIGGIES for 2020?
Sup guys, my hunch for 2020 is that it will be a 'quality' over quantity season, and even then it may be fairly busy with the numbers. I'm on the Edouard bandwagon too. these are the names I think may be the big ones of 2020...
Bertha...
big bertha may be at it again like in '96.
Edouard...
such an important-sounding name looks ominous, might be a Cape Verde beast in Aug or Sept.
Marco...
this one might be a bad one in October or late September, Caribbean perhaps?
Teddy...
if we get that far, and surpass the forecasts. Sounds like a surprise monster in November. been a long time since Nov gave a big one, might be like 2008's Paloma but stronger, larger and screaming out of the Caribbean like the 1932 hurricane.
thats my dice roll for 2020!

Would edouard be a 'friendly' Cape verde storm like in the 90s or would he be evil this time?

Re: BIGGIES for 2020?
I'm afraid he might be evil this time, hoping for it to just be a big fish. Edouard '96 was his strongest version so far, almost C5. Getting vibes Edouard '20 might be similar in power but get close to land or over land this time around, just a hunch.

The 1996 version was a sweet little thing! Harmless and playful. I hope he returns he's like this or even better-behaved!

Hope so too! The '96 version was quite a show indeed, held on to major status for like a whole week as it buzz-sawed through the open Atlantic! It's always fun to speculate on how the coming season might be like

Agree! I love storms like that.
1999 and 2010 had tons of edouard like storms!

Given the trends of "I" and "M" names being nasty, Isaias and Marco come to mind. Although I'm surprised Hurricane "Cristobal" has yet to be memorable. We shall see.

Re: BIGGIES for 2020?
Fay could be one, and maybe also Omar. I am sure there will be at least one or two big ones other than those two names, but nothing else is really standing out for me right now so I can't pick one. Not even Isaias, and I am not sure why. Maybe it's just because I am not really sure of the pronunciation?

The “I” storm (Isaias) scares me this year. Fortunately in 2014 we never got that far down the list for once.

Re: BIGGIES for 2020?
Now that CSU’s pre-season forecast is out, it seems fairly likely that we’ll get rather deep into this year’s list of names, maybe to N or O.
I’m extra worried about Isaias now, and maybe 2020 would want to revive the “destructive Cat 5 M-named storm” trend of 2016-2018.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

I'm the most worried about all the male names to be honest... all the "outlandish/exotically-named" storms have been pretty big recently... and last year all the big storms were male...

Re: BIGGIES for 2020?
I’m going with
Hanna- if you know a cute girl with her name on the list... Run!
Kyle- Gonna be punching a lot of holes in dryboard. Sponsored by monster energy drink
Laura- Peak season. Will be active simultaneously as Kyle
Rene- I still don’t trust first use R storms (Roxanne, Rita, Richard, Rina 11, Rafael) they’re all hurricanes and the Caribbean is primed for a big one

HAHAHAHA everyone's been going on about that... most people seem to be poking fun with kyle, bertha and nana on social media...
...imagine if edouard or isaias are the big ones... or something hard to pronounce (well, at least to americans.)

I wonder how people would pronounce them? I’m lazy and just pronounce them as Edward and Aye-zay-us

Yup they have also been big ones, including your namesake Lorenzo!
