6.5 quake in western Nevada..wonder if this is an aftershock from the 7.1 Ridgecrest quake last year?
56km west of Tonapah, Nevada.





Just under 18,000 felt reports but sure it will be more as time passes.



Nevada certainly dodged a bullet with this one the scientists are saying, obviously all
the felt reports, aftershocks, and stores with things knocked off shelves and the interstate 95
with some damage, the state got away relatively unscathed with what could of happened if it
had been near one of the bigger cities in Nevada.

This year has been weird for the western US. There's been a series of these powerful interior west US quakes since March.
March 18 brought a M 5.7 in Utah
March 31 brought the M 6.5 in Idaho
May 15 brought the M 6.5 in Nevada.

I feel like these events could be related somehow, as if each one tickles other faults in the general vicinity or something. I'm kinda worried that if this continues, eventually it's gonna happen soon near one of the dangerous faults like San Andreas or even something in the Pacific Northwest. That's 3 relatively rare earthquake events we've seen in as many months in the west USA.
