Looks like there is convection starting to build all around where the center probably is. To quote old HankFrank wherever he is these days, maybe the snowball will get rolling downhill.

One of the planes has been finding consistent 50-55 kt winds at ~3200 gpm up, not too far from the center, although it’s still quite broad. Surface winds could be approaching 45, maybe 50 kt.

Slidell, LA checking in here. Thanks for all the info and look forward to riding this one out. Been through many and only issue for me here is tidal flooding due to bayou in back yard. Have to move a lot of stuff in off the dock. Have house generator so power is not much concern. I'll keep everyone posted starting tomorrow.

Not sure why the NHC thinks a blend of SFMR and FL somehow yields 40 when there was 57 knot FL winds which yields 45-50 depending on where they are flying.

I would like to see what it looks like by noon tomorrow to see if convection can really build and sustain itself. And btw Steve how you been? Life treating you good? Another season added to the long list we’ve been here.

Hey Mike. Long time baby. Everything’s been good man. I got sick late March after hanging a few days with my brother in law who worked with someone who came down with Covid and eventually died. I had all the symptoms and got paranoid and tested since I’m getting old. Luckily it was spring allergies or just a respiratory bug and I tested negative and decided to quarantine away from everyone at my place in Pensacola. Otherwise I’m digging the hell out of working remotely. I’m thinking it might back off a little daytime tomorrow so that’s why I’m interested to watch what happens tonight. NAM 00z (like most global) is hinting at a Sunday evening landfall and it appears Cristobal is a storm that pulses up around dusk. That could mean a pulse at or just after landfall. If the pattern repeats tomorrow evening, I’ll be sold on a little more than otherwise expected.

Hi everyone! I live in Pensacola, Fl. Go figure we rented a condo this weekend and will be riding the waves out on Pensacola Beach until Monday afternoon! Kids are excited to see the waves. I Don’t think it’s gonna get too bad here, but should be fun to watch come in.

The reality is most people are interested in their backyard and peel off when they're out of the hunt. There's nothing wrong with that...it's simply human nature. that's why posting declines as a storm moves in. those out of contention step away and those still in the hunt are likely doing other things than posting (preps, freaking out, mixing cocktails)

It's great to see some of the longtime posters here again. Like I said before, the NHC has a good handle on this storm and it is LA-bound with most of the effects to the east of the center. Hot and dry here in Texas. This is mostly going to be a rain/flooding event for some folks east of the center but the core itself will be a run-of-the-mill TS.

Cristobal is a dress-rehearsal for a long and busy season ahead. Stay safe everyone, and check-in frequently. Based on everything I have studied so far, this season will be one for the historical archives. Make sure you have your evacuation plans and/or hurricane kit ready...this is only the beginning and we have a long way to go.
