Tropical Wave near Trinidad & Tobago

#1 Postby cycloneye » Tue Jun 16, 2020 1:42 pm

2nd wave with 10% east of islands in June.

Showers and thunderstorms located a few hundred miles east of
Trinidad and Tobago are associated with a westward-moving tropical
wave. Some slow development of this system is possible over the next
couple of days before upper level winds become less conducive and
the system begins to interact with the landmass of South America.
Regardless of development, this system could produce gusty winds and
heavy rainfall over Trinidad and Tobago and the northeastern
coastal sections of Venezuela through the middle of the week.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...10 percent.

Yeah, I had a feeling something was going on there as soon as I saw the satellite imagery this morning. The clouds were exhibiting a slight swirling motion.

Too low for SAL but low enough the SA might have a say.

Our meteorological office has put us under a yellow alert due to back-to-back tropical waves (starting with this one), which will also work to drag the ITCZ up to our latitude at the same time.

We may be in for a wet spell.

Déjà vu back to 2017. Eventually sooner rather than later one of these will develop.

Showers and thunderstorms located a few hundred miles east and
southeast of Trinidad and Tobago are associated with a
westward-moving tropical wave. Upper-level winds are becoming less
conducive for development, and the system is forecast to interact
with the landmass of South America tonight and Wednesday.
Regardless of development, this system could produce gusty winds and
heavy rainfall over Trinidad and Tobago and the northeastern
coastal sections of Venezuela during the next day or two.
