Re: Florida Weather
It has been absolutely delightful here for the past couple of days, thanks to 94L.
It has bought in a cool and drier airmass on a light northerly flow, for June standards here in Northeast Florida. Measured 59.6 degrees here at the home station earlier this morning, The NWS Jax office measured 60 degrees, which set a new record low temp for today's date.
It barely reached 80 degrees for yesterday's high temperature, and it is forecast to reach only into the lower 80s. Low humidity levels also the past couple of days, it has felt more like late March /early April since Monday . Nice gift from Mother Nature!!
We unfortunately head back to normal beginning tomorrow as humidity and moisture creeps backs into the area as wind flow turns back onshore.

Re: Florida Weather
The weather has been as good as it gets for mid june. exceptional. which means it can't (and won't) last. Deep moisture return starts in 3-2-1...

Re: Florida Weather
Lucky dogs up there in N. Fl. Down here it just gets hotter. Today the moisture has returned as the ULL is on the move. Looks like your turn. As the moisture will head up your way and hopefully clear me out by the weekend. There talking SAL by the weekend but mostly next week.

Re: Florida Weather
Looks like we'll get some SAL early to mid next week here in S.FL but not as much as some other times as the worst will miss us to the south and west. Until then enjoy the rain!

SAL events are typically accompanied by some drying/subsidence in
the low to mid levels, and this one will be no different. However,
because the subtropical ridge stays just to our south, we don`t
appear to get into the driest and most stable air associated with
the SAL. Instead, South Florida could still be affected by minor mid-
level impulses embedded in the westerly flow around the northern rim
of the subtropical high, somewhat counteracting the SAL`s
stabilizing effects. As a result, expect to a good amount of sun,
but also a decent coverage of diurnally-driven showers and
thunderstorms each day during the long-term. Interior/Gulf coast
areas will be favored for showers and thunderstorms during the
afternoon and early evening, and coastal/urban areas during the
night and morning. The Atlantic seabreeze will probably not push too
far inland each afternoon, so with the westerly flow at/above 700
mb, some thunderstorms could creep far enough east to affect the
western suburbs of SE Florida. An elevated mixed layer above the SAL-
induced inversion around 800 mb, combined with relatively cool mid-
level temperatures and diurnal surface heating, could lead to a few
strong storms each afternoon over the interior. Forecast soundings
from the GFS suggest that Monday may be the most unstable day of the
period, so storms that afternoon could be particularly vigorous with
strong winds and perhaps small hail. This will also be something
to watch more closely over the next few days.
Temperatures will be on the rise through the long-term as we`ll see
significant periods of sun along with the warming influence of the
SAL in the low levels. Highs will reach the lower to mid 90s over
the interior, with upper 80s confined to the immediate coastal
areas. Dewpoints will also rise into the mid to upper 70s, causing
daytime heat index values to soar above 100F virtually all areas. By
Tuesday and Wednesday, peak heat index values at or above 105F
should be common, and possibly reach as high as 108-110F over some
interior areas. This will something else to watch over the coming
days for the possibility of heat-related impacts.

I still have an uneasy feeling about this season considering it's 2020. Something tells me storms are going to be low riders and go through the Caribbean then recurve in the NW Caribbean into the Eastern Gulf, Cuba, Florida, or The Bahamas.

Received over two inches of rain from the thunderstorm that rolled through NE Palm Beach County just after 4pm! I’m surprised it didn’t qualify as a severe thunderstorm since it was quite strong and I just so happened to be watching it from on top of a parking garage.
Heck it’s still lightning and thundering outside right now.

Re: Florida Weather
The last few days have been somewhat eventful in terms of severe wx throughout northern Florida and southern Georgia. There was one nasty cell in particular that was tornado warned three times as it tracked southward through SE GA yesterday evening between c. 9:15 P.M. and midnight.
Another storm in Marion County last night (passed straight through Ocala) was said to be capable of producing hail two inches in diameter. That's pretty wild for Florida. I remember that about two years ago, there were reports of three-inch hail in the St. Johns River basin area (I think it was somewhere in St. Johns County).
Interested to see what may be in store for the area later today.

Re: Florida Weather
Looks like we will be on the fringe of thus huge dust outbreak:
The long range models are also showing the African Saharan Air
(Dust) currently approaching Puerto Rico to continue to move west
northwest and move into the region for the middle to end of this
week. The dust will reduce the coverage of showers and
thunderstorms over South Florida for the middle to end of this
week.

Re: Florida Weather
What a remarkable stretch of dry and hot conditions in west central Florida post cristobal. Looks to continue overall too as the SAL invades.

Re: Florida Weather
Yes, SUMMER truly is full effect.now. Temps all week will reach.the mid 90s , and even some upper 90s in interior locales later this week. We will see a gradual increase in moisture across the region to help spark thunderstorms, along with the seabreeze interactions to help try to relieve us from this intense heat beginning tomorrow.

Re: Florida Weather
This is about the longest June dry spell I can recall around here. It hasn't rained here since Cristobal passed by. The added sun and heat has pushed near shore water temps into the upper 80's which typically favors nocturnal and morning coastal showers and yet...convective crickets here. Of course we got a month's worth of rain in the first week so maybe nature is just balancing the scales but it is certainly very unusual. I've learned not to trust the weather guys...they have repeatedly told us an easterly flow will develop only for it to fail time and time again. the dry weather is nice. but holy smokes is it getting hot...we need some rain cooled air more than the rain itself..

Heat Advisories are currently in place for SW Florida from mainland Monroe county through Tampa/St. Petersburg and just inland.

Since that historic Memorial Day weekend, we've pretty much had a goose egg in Miami. At least in my area. There were a few days where it seemed to rain everywhere else, but looked like the thunderstorms would get pulled apart like saltwater taffy right around my area for some reason.
