I've been lurking for the past couple of weeks due to illness, but I'm glad to see my Texas friends getting rain. We had a good dry stretch until Sunday and after Thursday it would seem we will enter another one with the Saharan dust drying things out. If we could get a couple of more inches before then that'd be pretty good for us.

Unfortunately most models including the latest euro show that this is it for the week. I was hoping for more rounds.

Unfortunately it looks like the MCV from last nights storm complex is going to ruin our wet pattern for the rest of the week. That moisture surge from the Gulf doesn't look as heavy now. What a surprise...much of north TX cashes in on a rain event while southern parts of the state largely miss out. Story of 2020 so far!

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING THROUGH
WEDNESDAY MORNING...

The National Weather Service in League City has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of south central Texas and
southeast Texas, including the following areas, in south central
Texas, Coastal Jackson and Inland Jackson. In southeast Texas,
Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Chambers, Coastal Brazoria, Coastal
Galveston, Coastal Harris, Coastal Matagorda, Colorado, Fort Bend,
Galveston Island and Bolivar Peninsula, Grimes, Houston, Inland
Brazoria, Inland Galveston, Inland Harris, Inland Matagorda,
Madison, Matagorda Islands, Montgomery, Northern Liberty, Polk,
San Jacinto, Southern Liberty, Trinity, Walker, Waller, Washington
and Wharton.

* From 7 PM CDT this evening through Wednesday morning

* A line of strong thunderstorms will develop over southeast Texas
this evening and slowly move eastward through Wednesday morning. A
combination between the slow moving nature of the thunderstorms,
back building/training of thunderstorms, and recent rainfall over
the area has led to an increasing threat of flash flooding.
Rainfall rates may reach one to three inches per hour or more at
times. There remains some uncertainty in the timing and location
of the line of strong thunderstorms. On average, two to four
inches of rain is expected through tomorrow morning with isolated
areas of six to eight inches possible.

* These storms with heavy rainfall may be capable of flooding
roadways. Low water crossings may flood becoming impassable and
dangerous. Small creeks and bayous may see minor rises.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
Flash Flooding. Flash Flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Yeah there is a pocket of strong vorticity sliding into the area. Very interesting for June, will surely spark some big rain makers. At least there is too much day time heating today

Anyone have any thoughts about SE Austin tomorrow PM? I've read the AFD, and I can't get a great handle on whether the storms forecast are going to be widespread or more isolated.

I'm closing on a house/moving tomorrow afternoon, and just trying to get a sense of what I might expect.

Another small bust here this morning as well. Most areas got less than 1 inch when we were expected to get 2-4+. One trend I've noted so far this year is north TX seems to overperform on rain events while the southern half of the state underperforms...

4.32" at my house in W. Houston the last 5 days. I'm content for some drying for a few days.

Some storms just popped up along 59. Big rain makers with the PWAT so high. Seems to be a low at the 700 mb level kicking these off

Areas east of Houston got a lot of rain too. I've had about 8 inches of rain this month. It rained another inch today. I think it may be a while till I can get the grass cut now.

:uarrow: Hope you enjoyed it because it unfortunately looks hot and dry across much of the state over the next few weeks. Our dreaded summer pattern looks to be arriving just in time for July...

The south/southeastern tip of Travis County has been getting slammed. It's raining again here but I'm on the western edge, there looks like a new storm has developed that seems to be headed towards the Rain Cave.

Euro not looking bad, certainly not a repeat of early June.
