No watches or warnings? This must be a really small storm.

Yeah the first five storms this year formed in the Subtropics. Not to mention all of the first five storms in 2005 affected land, with three being hurricanes, and two major hurricanes. Not much comparison.

So far this is seeming to be one of those seasons where almost everything that wants to develop does though.

...and I still argue that Emily 2005 should have retired the name Emily. If you reference it this much it should have been the last one

Cristobal formed robustly in the tropics.

The second NS in 1961 did not form prior to 2 September, yet the season ended up with five majors, including Carla and Hattie.

I'm leaning toward thinking that Edouard will become just organized enough to bring risk of beach umbrella damage risk to Bermuda from northerly gusts as it's passing late tonight/early Sunday.

Last time I checked the Bay of Campeche wasn’t located in the subtropics.

I don't think this statistic holds much weight, IMO. Most storms before July 15th are very low ACE scoring storms. We've just happened to have a very active early season.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Not only do I call into question anything before the reliable satellite era, as coverage was spotty before 1966, but the longer it takes to get five storms the higher the ACE will be in the first place in most cases because of when they're forming.

Agree, it's just a cool factoid to post. Point of reference so to speak. Not every post of mine has season cancel or hyperactive overtones

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Very unusual to see the forecast for a TS landfall in <18 hours and still no Warning. Feels like the forgot that there is more than fish out here.

Of course for now it’s been quantity over quality. But that’s to be expected for barely over a month into the season.
