Buttermilk Pralines update (this recipe appears here and also in the October Newsletter): I made a double batch tonight for my family, since they're usually my guinea pigs .....LOL They often get my "duds" but tonight I wanted to finally taste this recipe. So they got the whole batch. It's very good but a tad on the sweet side. The original recipe seems too small so I doubled it. I was glad since you have to do a lot of stirring, be prepared for that! Why not double it I say, if you have to do all that work anyway. When it was all done, my family agreed they're good, almost a little too sweet though. So now I don't know if I should give these out as xmas gifts or not! My family said they like the caramel popcorn better. If I haven't posted that recipe I will (Dennis has a good one too).

I also used a larger pot than recommended b/c near the end it almost boiled over, it was 1/8 inch from the top! So I just quickly transferred the whole batch. Temp went down a bit but it still turned out okay. I had to wait for it to reach 234 degrees again.

So to sum it all up:

The pralines are good, but very rich.

Use a larger pot. I used a dutch oven, my cookware is Farberware. Worked great for this recipe.

Double the recipe.

And be prepared to do a lot of stirring. A lot!

Mary

PS - Tuesday morning edit.....the sweet pralines are growing on us. Both my girls took some to school today to share at lunch! And they were telling me which neighbors would love them and who would rather have caramel popcorn. LOL So it looks like I will be making a batch of these closer to the holidays afterall. They do grow on you!

Lindaloo -

Have you ever heard of "Tastefully Simple?" It's a company that sells their products through those in home parties. They have alot of neat items that can be used to throw together quick snacks in no time. They have a brownie and a fudge mix. The brownies are to die for and really simple to make - just add their mix with 1/2 cup of butter and 2 large eggs. It contains Ghiradelli chocolate chips in them! YUM!!! I've never tried the fudge, but I did buy a package from a girl here at work that had a party at her home a week ago.

OKAY STORM2K COOKS - I am working on the November Newsletter and decided to go with Desserts that everyone eats at Thanksgiving.

If you can include the recipe, forward it or email it to me it would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be first - Pumpkin Pie and Pecan Pie - it won't be Thanksgiving without either pie.

Thanks :-)

Well now I want a pumpkin pie too!!!! I may have to make one. Years ago I made mine from Libby's canned pumpkin, and made the crust from scratch! Yep, I did all that. Now I did cheat and use canned pumpkin but the recipe on the back of the can isn't too bad. I feel in the mood to just hole up and bake away. It's cold and rainy in Cincy today.

No, unfortunately they're not. They're sold through in-home parties, like Tupperware or Party Lite Candles.

Does anyone have a recipe for a Caramel Cheescake that isn't terribly fiddly?
