Yeah it's certainly gonna make it challenging. Best option looks to be somewhere on HWY 77 near Rivera area may be best bet. On my way down there as we speak! Our ETA is around 430am.

This could be closer to Brownsville than Corpus Christi at this rate.

yep. If I could chase this I would be heading to Port Mansfield.

We'll see. Unfortunately for Corpus, the north side is the strongest side in Hanna.

Somewhat unrelated to the direct discussion on Hanna, but isn't it absolutely fascinating how much variation in structure there is between each storm? Particularly during strengthening phases such as this one. Some may call it -removed-, but I find it thoroughly enjoying from a purely meteorological standpoint how each tropical cyclone manifests into it's own unique structure whether it be on IR, visible, radar, etc. Truly awe inspiring.

As an aside that puts it much closer to the SpaceX facilities in Boca Chica.

However, it's becoming more likely that the eyewall will remain *well* south of Corpus Christi. Still not time to drop the guard though.

I suppose you could just get an air boat and go strap yourself to the RSJT2 CMAN station if you want to chase it lol

It's likely they will need to adjust the warnings too, by extending the Hurricane Warning to the mouth of the Rio Grande.

Hurricane Mike wrote:Not to be a wet blanket, but Hanna still needs to strengthen her eyewall on radar, and wrap convection better on her western side. It's impressive, and strengthening, but I still don't think it's a hurricane yet, and it still needs one more good burst.

It'll probably go like this through the rest of the night, still mixing out the dry air. The mesoscale models (that have done fairly well so far) don't really take off until sunrise and then rapidly strengthen it up until landfall.

What are you using to view this? I am looking on windy.com but it looks to be somewhat open on the south side.

Seems to be a tiny patch of dry air that she ingested about 2 hours ago that has rotated to the west side of the circulation. After that is coughed out, I believe IR presentation will begin to flourish. Dry air circled in blue. True center circled in black.

there is no dry air..

you will often get voids that appear to be dry air as convection builds and moves around.

I know it's expected to go south of Corpus but the longer landfall gets delayed I am curious how much more south this might actually go.

Agreed. I think the SW bend will put it down further south.
