In an amateur hurricane tracking language for us please? :D  i try to understand all the meanings etc

Miss Piggy is showing very erratic surface pressure readings.
The only reliable reading will be from a dropsonde when they release it in the core.

Exactly, they will have one shortly.

Weird. I refresh the data and it looks better.

Thanks bud. I'm here in Vero Beach, FL. Have a feeling this makes a landfall in Ft. Pierce (St. Lucie County).

To the untrained eye it looks like it’s moving away from the Florida coast. Could just and most likely probably be me lol

12z Sounding out of Miami, continuing very dry westerly winds between H40-H20 punching Isaias, will be a matter of time before the convection collapses again later this morning.

P3 may not have enough power to fight a downdraft.
C130 would be better to run the tower.

BTW that drop didn't look like the CoC. Was about 35 knot surface winds.

Could yet regain hurricane strength prior to landfall near the SC/NC border. That's where conditions have always looked the most favorable - NOT in the Bahamas.

Oh Geez Wxman, you really think there may be possibility of Cat 1 by time it gets up her to SC/NC line area? I really need to get preps in gear hearing that!

My posts are NOT official forecast and should not be used as such. It's just my opinion and not backed by sound meteorological data, and NOT endorsed by any professional institution or storm2k.org. For official information, please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

grazed by many - most wind damage: Hugo (pre-cellphone days!) & most water: Floyd

It'll probably be close - maybe 55-65 and you'd think 30-45 up the seaboard. You guys probably get a couple inches of rain if it's moving faster then. Looks like a nice run to push back a little against the westerly shear. I haven't looked at any modeling yet, but if there's anything to note, I'll post it in the Models thread.

Looks like Miss Piggy is headed home.
Likely instrument issues.
I am not counting that drop.

P3 and C130s have the same engines, they are just flipped 180° on the P3. Obviously the C130 has a stronger airframe.

Do they both have variable pitched props?

Yep. WC-130s have 6 blades, the WP-3 has the standard 4.

Edit for correction...

But, can they change the angle of the blades on command.
The sharper the angle, the more thrust.
P3's are designed for cruising.
C130's are heavy lifters. More lift at lower airspeeds and increased thrust for short runways.

The both change the angle of the blades and keep the RPMs constant. Both the Navy E-2 Hawkeye and C-2 COD have the same engines too.
