Recon hasn't gotten there yet, last advisory a few minutes ago has it 30 miles east of Jupiter.

Amen. We don't need a strong 'cane in the Carolinas.

It's super hot and humid here as it is!

I'm not a meteorologist, I'm an electronics engineer. While I can probably fix your toaster oven, you're not going to learn about storms from me!

New Mexico had no hurricanes. Then I moved to NC right before Fran.....

And you wouldn’t even know it’s just offshore with a light breeze and overcast skies.

I find it fascinating how these storms often time avoid landfall. It’s really just because the steering sets up just right to allow them to just miss.

We’ve been so fortunate with Matthew, Dorian, and now Isaias its kind of strange. That hurricane repellent must be really working!

It is not a coincidence that the East Coast shoreline seems to follow the path of these storms, but it still amazes me each time it takes that last minute turn

I'm no expert, but looking at the lower-level clouds on vis imagery, it seems like the LLC has jumped east more into the center of the deep convection. Is it just me?

Also, where's recon?

It's hard to say because it's so occluded - even on high resolution. Radar indications are that it's pretty much right along the coast but without much weather yet (broad lower level center at the moment?). The radar derived model out of the Bahamas has much more noticeable rainfall in East-Central Florida between 1-5pm local time. Not saying it's going to be a total washout for anyone if it's right.

No new convective bursts are occurring inside the storm. So, could the convection collapse again? Hopefully, the LLC is not in the center of all that convection. Die Isaias, die! :D

Recon finding 60 KT FL wind in the NW quadrant, that's quite a bit higher than what previous recon flights found earlier.

Unflagged 63 KT SFMR as well. Definitely stronger than this time yesterday.
