Mayor of New york
Just got back from Pascagoula beach park where I met Rudolph Giuliani. He is actually a laid back man. He is here backing Republican Haley Barbour for Governor. He is backed by law enforcement all along the Gulf Coast. Including the Sheriff's Dept and Pascagoula Police Dept. I work in the courthouse which houses the sheriff's dept. I got to sit at the same table, but did not got a word in. lol. He told some stories of 9/11 and I must say, after getting it straight from him it hit me even harder about how the people suffered that day. And I do know he is not finished in the political world yet.

Wow...that sounds like a wonderful experience Lindaloo!
From a distance, folks sometimes seem to forget that most elected officials are really down to earth men and women, at least the ones I've been privileged to meet and speak with (Bob Barr, Mac Collins, Zell Miller, Mack Mattingly). I was somewhat surprised on Memorial Day to find myself standing next to U.S. Congressman Mac Collins and State Representative Tyrone Brooks...one a conservative republican, the other a liberal democrat -- and we were standing there in a memorial cemetary chatting not about politics or issues; but instead about the recent stormy weather (awaiting the arrival of guest of honor former POW Ronald Young Jr.). It was a totally awesome afternoon!

I have always admired Rudy Guiliani because I thought he handled the crisis extremely well and he seems like a genuine person. As a side note and not to draw the topic off... I don't like the current mayor. He seems to be kind of snobby or something.

As some of you may or may not know, we had riots in downtown Cincinnati 2 years ago. It was a very sad time. We have a lot of inner city problems, racism, dilapitated areas. But we have 2 new stadiums......LOL And a pretty riverfront area. Anyways, Nina is very interested in NYC, went there recently and wants to live there when she's thru with college. She keeps saying we need a Mayor like Guilliani to come in and renew or clean up our city. Make it great. I tend to agree with her. Not to mention how he handled himself and guided the entire city of New York immediately following 9/11 but look at what he did for that city a decade before? He's an amazing former mayor. We'd love to snag him. LOL

He is definitely a great person. He admires all law enforcement and firefighters. He mentioned the ones out in CA as well. He said "these men and women rush into the unknown to save lives." "These heroes mostly go unnoticed" He is very proud of this service. The law enforcement and fire dept. here were standing tall for him. Made me feel so good.
IMO, you never really know what a good leader in a high position is all about until they are faced with tragedy such as 9/11. Rudy did alot of things on 9/11 the media never gave him credit for.
He also enjoyed all those baby back ribs. LOL!! He had BBQ sauce everywhere but did not care. hehe
We who voted for GW Bush had no idea what type of warrior he was either until 9/11. Makes me wonder now when I cast my vote.

All kidding aside, that must have been a special treat for you. Aside for the fact that the man is a devoted Yankee's fan, I find him to be a man of high moral integrity.

Didn't you have Jerry Springer as Mayor once, just get him back into office. Then at least all of the riff-raff would be in one place, in his office confessing to each other their affairs with the other's grandmothers. That should clean up the inner city a bit....

Blizzard - oh yeah, that would work to our advantage. LOL He honestly was a very popular Mayor here! Next he was a well liked and respected evening news anchorman. Which led to his talk show, started right here. Again, when the talk show started he still had our respect. I compared Jerry's initial talk show style to Phil Donahue. Ha! Now it's 2003, and well, he's not that well liked or respected here anymore! I don't know what league he's in but certainly not Donahue or Oprah's!!!
