Speaking of Irma, I'm not entirely convinced it wouldn't have gone sub-900 for real if it hadn't taken a "24 Hours in Cuba" vacation. The area it was supposed to travel through, the triangle between Andros, Miami and the Keys, was really juiced up if I remember correctly.

Yep. I don't think we saw Irma's true ceiling, which would have been awesome from a pure geekery perspective. It was bombing out in even more impressive fashion than its initial run to 155kt Cat. 5 before it was brought to a screeching halt by Cuba.
