Don't be surprised if you see "aborted" EWRC cycles with the outer eyewall being absorbed by the inner eyewall. We saw that with numerous intense storms.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

I've looked at a couple different radar products. I think those are more likely banding features versus 2nd eyewall.

Is the rain steady yet? Do you guys lose power quick in storms? I feel like FPL just turns it off once it gusts over TS

Had a couple light downpours, but about to get into a lull before the bad stuff starts ramping up, CLECO here is pretty good, however the electricity can sometimes go off in a regular Thunderstorm, it all depends on where the line is broken, all of our electricity lines are above ground and we have trees all over, so you never know when or how long you will be out of power. In a few hours going to be lowering the AC to get the house a lot cooler for just in case, so won't be miserable the whole time.

Oh boy, the eyewall started rotating a LOT quicker towards the end of that gif. A sign that winds are probably going to increase even more than they already have been.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Probably going to fill up every single bit of free space on this phone with satellite imagery over the next 12 hours or so honestly

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

We can see Dryer air on the west side bumping up against the circulation... hope this trend continues... as forecast.

Disclaimer: I'm likely the smartest guy here... but I have no idea where a tropical cyclone will go. I suggest you take my opinion as a grain of salt. I suggest you look to the National Hurricane Center for accurate info.

Every time when recon is about to do an important pass HDOB will do weird stuff: first losing communication, now updating data from old recon passes LOL

Still got those eyewall mesovortices going, that's even scarier than a perfectly round eye. This is absolute beast mode.

Salute!

From family experience dating back to 1947 ( only one I remember when looking out front window with an oak tree root system rippling the ground, he heh). My uncles lost several homes on MS-LA coast, then gave up when getting old.

The stilts are great when way back in the trees, as I recounted a friend's experience with Katrina. Ditto for others during Camille. If you are right on the water, then the pilings must be very deep and the superstructure extremely well done. See some of the post Michael pics of Mexico Beach showing some places looking real good but surrounded by rubble. They didn't get a very high surge and an ABC wx gal rode out the storm a half mile inland when she delayed departure too long.

I wouldn't ride out any storm greater than 2 if on the water, stilts or not. My place is a half mile inland but 60 to 70 feet above the water and we rode out Erin and the min cat 3 Opal with many trees down and one car crushed. The Panhandle topography is more like the east coast and the sea floor contour is much different than the coast from Mobile to Texas.

This storm could be really bad, as many folks will not be able to get out because they waited too long or they have no experience with these things.

Prayers for all, and closest relative about 50 miles due north of the TX-LA border so could get a good report once phones come up.

Gums sends...

I wonder if any chasers will be in Cameron, LA. It’s a tiny town right on the coast and will likely get the worst impacts.
