They were showing someone on the weather channel reporting from Cameron and you could see dozens and dozens of cattle in the field, and just knowing they will probably all be dead by tomorrow at this time I’d very sad. Jim Cantore also mentioned the timber and cattle loss on his tweet as well

True, it's very saddening knowing that they have no idea what's
about to hit them tonight and that they wont make it....

They can probably sense it, but nowhere to go. Laura’s eye and powerful eyewall and overall appearance and recon readings stuns me. Classic hurricane look. Prayers to all in its path. And if they’re any people reading this forum, who haven’t left in the strike zone, please leave, for your life’s sake.

IR presentation continues to improve. I'm so glad we will have two birds up there at the perfect time.

I agree with you. It is probablý going into well in the 920s range through landfall.

Just for perspective. . .

Assuming that the eye is still 25 miles in diameter, taking the top of the troposphere at 65,000 feet, and assuming that the cirrus outflow is at the top of the troposphere, all of the visible system that is Laura is occurring in an atmospheric layer with a thickness equal to the radius of that eye.

SSTs just offshore the potential landfall location are currently among the highest in the entire gulf.

If you look to the northwest, Laura's outflow is absolutely shredding the approaching trough, a little bit different than Marco.

Well, I've seen cars on roofs. You suggesting that we might actually see our first post-hurricane with an alligator on someone's roof??

That was common in past hurricanes down there, including Audrey and Camille. Alligators and water moccasins.

Yep dropsonde supports 130kts as a blend.

However those 140kts are literally just above the surface, you've got to think that on one of those passes one of the recon planes is going to clock a legitimate 135kts+ SMFR or a dropsonde that gets above 135kts. Won't be long I'd have thought given some of the velocities aloft on radar and that dropsonde report.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.
