Make that 106kt. Surge of about 8ft so far but it endured the due north component of the eyewall, surge much higher just a tick farther east I'd imagine.

Grand Chenier is about a mile inland and is in the eastern eyewall. Probably 10-12 ft+ surge.

On the chat, someone from the crew said it was likely still operating, but the water blocks the cell signal! Tough stuff.

They said they will try to retrieve it when it's safe.

It's a GoPro, so it's good, Just under about 8' of water. If those people stayed to ride it out, it looks very grim.

The eyewall's about 10 or 12 miles south of Lake Charles. Guess I'm going to have to wait up a little while longer.

Is Jeff going to ride it out where he's at? 100+ with gusts over 125 mph in the downtown area? Wowza...

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

But if you insist, trust me, I'm a physicist.

Not until the center of the eye comes on shore. Based on current radar that still has not occurred. The eyewall is definitely on shore. Winds currently gusting to 127mph at Calcasieu Pass.

How is it that the western eyewall has higher radar velocities than the eastern one?? Picking up upper 160s in the eastern eyewall, and lower 170s in the western one.

Jeff is having a high energy livestream, with great narration. Reed just sounds disinterested, like it's a chore.
