Absolute direct hit by a Cat 4 on a good sized city. Can't help but believe that the damage will be catastrophic.

Is he sure he's safe from surge where he's at though? He's just at an intersection, not in a parking garage or anything.

I can not believe they are out there in those dangerous conditions.

It is. And it should at least be upgraded to 155 mph in post-analysis, which would make Laura the most intense in terms of winds.

Ever wonder what it was like in 1900 in Galveston? Add the storm surge and this is what it was like. Wow.

They seem to think the surge in parts of the city won’t be as bad as originally thought. I’m sure they are somewhere out of a surge zone.

It's Reed. He might just have a different definition of "safety" than you or me.

Rail Dawg wrote:Quick update maybe last one for now. What is happening is historic. The complete destruction of the true Cajun folks homes south here near Cameron.

This entire area is going to be a complete and total disaster. They did not plan correctly. All cops very few linemen for power lines so we can cut a path out and meet the tens of thousands of line trucks, ambulances cutting their way toward us.

Most folks (200) here have NO hurricane experience. They are tornado chasers. This is not chasing tornadoes. I’m chilled out typing and they are hooting and hollering like the wind is big. Son... you ain’t seen big you young whipper-snapper.

Note: No one wears masks. No one. Shaking hands. Police are in one building we are in the next. Went over and briefed where they screwed up. I’m the only one with a 28” Husqvarna chain saw that is Ready to Rock!!!

This may be my last post. It’s getting bad. Expecting 15 ft surge plus waves on top of that. Lake Charles (Lake Chuck!!!) is going to be destroyed.

Dorian Bahamas vibes...

Yes cfisher. The vibes here are whack. I may not make it if storm surge pounds this 60 year old structure I guess. But actually I feel great. Energized. Ready for the devastation that we will ALL see at sunrise.

Although I have been a hurricane forecaster since 1980 that only means I've been wrong lots of times.

This is insane. I'm really frightened for these folks. People that stayed anywhere near the water are in real trouble.
