Looks like the Golden Nugget is the place to be, one of the few places that still has power, backup generators I assume.

I talked to a guy once who lived in Homestead and went through Andrew.

He moved to my town a couple of years later. When I talked to him, he said that their house disintegrated through the night and that they crawled to a backyard shed that somehow survived because of fallen debris that formed a bit of a wind block.

Said he and his family had nightmares about the storm for months. Kept talking about the insane roar of the wind, said it was so loud you could barely hear someone screaming next to you.

There will be a lot of stories like that after tonight.

Yeah guys Lake Charles and Fort Polk radar are down, so they are having to use Baton Rouge and Houston radar. Having small power surges, and just had a wind gust that I would guess was about 80 mph.

Reed is watching a building getting shredded right before his eyes. Would highly recommend tuning in if you aren't.

Big building is getting shredded on Reed's feed. My gosh, imagine homes and smaller buildings right now.

The right front quadrant, which Lake Charles is in right now is always where the worst conditions are of any tropical cyclone.

Strongest hurricane to make landfall in LA since Camille.

Actually, Camille technically did not make landfall in LA, since its centre remained just offshore while near the MS River Delta.

Laura is therefore tied with the 1856 Last Island hurricane as the strongest on record in Louisiance since records began in 1851:

I would compare the conditions I am seeing on Reed's stream to those I saw in Jeff P's infamous blue shed video in Harvey. Pretty impressive considering the blue shed was on the coast and this is 30 miles inland.
