Just a couple minutes ago on Jeff P’s feed they were saying that someone who might have been under the influence of a substance ran out in the storm and got a face full of glass from all those windows getting smashed out by the wind. It was an unconfirmed report though, so don’t take it as 100% fact. It was just something one of the chasers heard. He said they were patching the guy up though so apparently he made it through.

My heart goes out to all of you going through this. Stay safe!

There was a significant ankle injury from glass. Guy had his car smashed by glass. The ankle injury was serious but you have to be aware of the wind direction. He stepped right out into 120mph glass shower.

Think man lol!!! He had to go to police in the garage next to us. The secret is don’t be a liability out here! We are on our own.

Waiting for storm surge? Do you guys think the south winds blowing now will push surge in? I think so but not sure.

I think there will be many deaths out there in Cajun country south of here.

I have been desperately trying to keep up for days. This feels like when I first caught the meteorology tracking bug when I caught the Tuscaloosa April 2011 tornado outbreak live with chasers and news camera feeds for the very first time.

Glad to hear Reed is okay and just left the car for a bit. Thinking of all those who decided to stay behind in Cameron and coastal areas and bracing myself for the footage as the sun rises.

Very Michael-like in that regard. When these things come in as 130kt+ beasts and moving at a decent clip, 50-100 miles inland will get major-hurricane force winds at least in gusts. Once the inner core does start to collapse though, it usually goes quickly.

I've been in at least 3 Tornado Warnings, and now in a Flash Flood Warning. The wind is starting to pick up consistently, the rain has been non-stop for a while now. Will keep on posting while I have internet and electricity.

It must have come in JUST far enough east to spare Lake Charles and Cameron the worst of that. I would wait for word from the smaller communities along and south of I-10 between Lake Charles and Lafayette, though before stating with confidence that a water catastrophe has been averted (what with the forecasts of 40 miles inland surge penetration).

I was searching and couldn’t find anything about an actual hurricane in Arkansas. I did find something back in 1871 but it didn’t say if it was a hurricane just that it caused major destruction

they were if they had a ladder or a two story house....other problem is a surge will take a house right off the slab and then its real trouble if you stayed....surge doesn't get enough headlines in the media
