Overall not looking all that impressive on Satellite. LLC is there but lacking any significant convection currently. Still needs more time to percolate I think. Maybe later tonight.

Re: ATL: INVEST 90L - Discussion
I'm feeling confident recon will close off a circulation, but convection has waned a bit this afternoon. "Organized deep convection" is ambiguous and subjective, so I'm not entirely sure NHC will classify just yet even if they close off a circulation.

Looks like they found a fairly defined circulation near 32.5N, 76.5W. Not any strong wind around. They will have to look to the East.

But it’ll be just a little too late to become Nana in August. At the earliest, it’ll be upgraded to a TS at 00z September 1st.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Wait until the Hunter finishes its 2nd pass. It might find TS winds

Re: ATL: FIFTEEN - Tropical Depression - Discussion
And we eke out the genesis of another August storm by literally just three hours UTC.

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Wow... This has got to be like the first td15 in August ever right?
It's crazy how this time last year we were tracking Dorian, the 5th storm of the season and here we are a year later tracking the 15th

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

Sheared, but convection building back over the center, looking for the connection to the cold front though...

Re: ATL: FIFTEEN - Tropical Depression - Discussion
Since TD15 has up to two days over the Gulf Stream before shear really kicks in, I’m not ruling out the possibility of a sudden burst of intensification and organization like with Dolly in June. I still believe she got to 50-60 kt before quickly weakening.

Seems like this area off of Atlantic coast near the Carolinas has been a real hotbed of activity this year...Arthur, Bertha, Fay all formed around there, and it's where Isaias strengthened.
