Just as I clicked on your post, Fez, they mentioned this on the radio.

A bloody body is covered with a sheet outside the building.

Hmmmmm...

Was this while Robert went back in to get his keys? or was it his gun?

Outside the Van Nuys courthouse, as the hearing was under way, a person was shot and the courthouse was locked down. The Blake hearing was in session when the shooting occurred on a public walkway.

Los Angeles police spokesman Officer James Chong said an attorney was shot by his client and a male suspect was taken into custody by police immediately after the shooting.

Chong said four or five shots were fired, but he didn't know how many times the victim was hit or his condition.

Chong said he didn't know if the shooting was connected to the Blake hearing inside the courthouse.

"This is a tragic event and the court is very concerned," said Alan Parachini, a Superior Court spokesman.

How sad, but you know I am starting to think this place is much more reliable for breaking news than the 3 cable networks. :)

As long as it's not a weekend, I usually have news coming in from some source or another - alerts on my phone, email, here on the board, or having the radio on at work or TV at home. Weekends are busy and I'm not on the net as much (boy, if my boss heard me say that  ) so I can't keep up. Being at the beach, movies, the Strand, or wherever...harder to follow what's going on and I have to catch up in the morning during my workout.

It's a shame that someone was shot. I hope the victim was not killed.

And BTW - this place is an unbelievable news source. When my wife gets home in the evening, I will give her a news update and she wonders how I heard about all this stuff.

I would think we are getting information from Fox News Channel, MSNBC and CNN. They weren't reporting the story on their websites soon after this terrible event took place.

It was a CourtTV exclusive, because it occurred right near their camera. Perhaps the reason why the Fox News Channel, MSNBC and CNN didn't have information about this as soon as they would have.

The gentleman who was shot multiple times is an attorney. The gunman said that he (his attorney) "stole his money" or words to that affect, anyway.

I saw the video from one of the cameras...the suspect, a middle-aged man wearing glasses and a tan windbreaker-pants, shot several times at the lawyer with a snubnose revolver, who was ducking back and forth behind a thin (6-8") tree; the lawyer was able to walk away, then collapsed off-camera.

The suspect then put his gun in his right jacket pocket, and calmly walked away...a FoxNews cameraman pointed at him from behind, to let the officers on the scene find him, and within about 5 seconds, he was tackled to the ground and overpowered.

The suspect is reported to have said, This is what you get for taking all my money" before shooting the victim, who is now reportedly in stable condition at a local hospital, and is talking to investigators.

Personally speaking, this shooter was "a world of DUMB", emptying his gun at his lawyer with so many cameras around (but not for his case, but Robert Blake's)...   Can y'all give me a "EVIDENTIARY FILM CLIP"?

Ah knew ya could!

It was a bit confusing the camera man that was pointing to the gunman was on "Studio B with Shephard Smith." He said that he was hired out by CourtTV and about an hour or so later I heard he was a Fox News camera man.

I knew he said something about "money" and remember hearing the exact words you kindly posted, Bill. I was close enough. :)

The video was amazing! I haven't heard anything lately, but last I heard the victim was stable. It is a miracle that he survived 8+ shots at point blank. The victim was dodging bullets behind a slim tree while the crazed shooter kept firing at him just inches from his head. Then the victim walked away looking dazed before he collapsed and was taken to the hospital, meanwhile the shooter tried to blend into the flow of traffic, trying to look innocent but what was quickly tackled to the ground by police.

I pray the victim is ok.

Last word I had on this was that the suspect was unhappy about a disbursement in a will, which left his sister more than he got; he also threatened one of the trustees, a lady, before shooting this attorney.

BTW, he only fired six shots, Kelly...a Colt Detective snubbie only holds that many rounds (yes, I identified the revolver), and the suspect didn't reload.
