Was forecast to be 61 degrees earlier today. Nope. Also it feels like heaven outside.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Fort Worth TX
608 AM CDT Thu Sep 10 2020

.SHORT TERM... /NEW/
Update:

The cold front has pushed through the entire forecast area, with
all locations in the 60s or lower this morning. Stronger than
anticipated cold advection has allowed the western half of the
forecast area to drop even lower than previously forecast with
some locations in Eastland County dropping into the 40s. Also of
note, the record low minimum temperature record was set for Dallas
Fort Worth this morning when the temperature dropped to 55F at
3:23AM. This breaks the previous record of 56 which was set in
1941.

I got 5.18” in 24 hours here in north Dallas. Overproduced in my area for sure, though it looks to be one of the harder precip areas around Dallas.

The front has cleared me finally. Looks like the front stretches from Texarkana, Longview, College Station and on down to Corpus line. West of that line temps are below 70. Impressive seeing the front down well into Mexico.

The forecast high of 71 at DFW will shatter the record low max for today (79). Record lows of any kind, or time of year, are so few and far between nowadays.

What a fantastic weather day for early September! :D

I read that yesterday the high in Lubbock was 45 which shattered the previous minimum high of 65. Now that is what I call shattering a record.

Chilly outside. I think the temperatures are lowering instead of rising

69/55 so the high came up just short but impressive!

Kind of surprising it's not that cold in Canada right now. Winnipeg is in the 70s warmer than Dallas! This was resultant of a strong upper feature that really drove it's own record cold air for the date in a specific region.

Yesterday's high temperatures in Austin (69 at the airport, 67 at Camp Mabry) set records for coolest high temps on the date. It also was the coolest high temps in Austin in September since 9/13/14. Felt wonderful out there!

Hows 1967-68 look for an analog this winter? I would throw a little bit of '62 in there as well, but i dont want to get to cocky.

Our favorable upper flow came at the heels of the Typhoons over the Pacific that sharpened the NPO.

However now it's reversed course and we're getting a parade of Atlantic systems. That will flip the upper pattern over the EPO into a more unfavorable position (trough in the Pac NW). Luckily it is getting into September so no insane heatwaves but will warm up for awhile and stay mild.

Y'all need to learn to share. :) The cold front never made it to my location. It stalled just to my west. Meanwhile, it looks like my area may be getting some rain soon. We definitely need it. I had less than 1 inch in August.
