Is the weather that's over Louisiana/MS still a part of 22? Looks like part of the same entity.

Someone doesn't love TD22

I get the distinct feeling that, when this one is finally history, nobody is going to love TD22/TS Beta/Whatever.

This is just beyond insane! We are going to have nearly the normal average of a season of named storms in this month alone before it is all said and done!!!

Wilfred would not have been named unless it displayed more banding. Probably Vicky, too. Don't remember what scatterometer data we had then, if any.

Alpha absolutely would not have been named in 2005.

That is correct, Alpha would NOT have been named. Not "yes it would have been", not maybe, just no. Soon we'll see a new genre of Greenland low pressure cells to begin getting named

What is taking so long for them to pull the trigger on naming this sytem??? They don't want to with no synoptic progress in the future to set a good cone and future guidance for it???

It may have not been named, but it would have probably been classified in post-season analysis, just like the other unnamed storm that year. IMO

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

Alpha is more deserving then Bertha or Kyle of a name. A lot more deserving of Andrea 2007 or Andrea 2019, lol Fact.
Bertha because it was extremely short lived
Kyle because it was clearly extratropical or subtropical at best

What part of convection over an well defined LLC with a eyewall don't people understand? Are you looking at something I aint to bring up a greenlanic cell?

Again, there's no missing Alpha's radar signature.

As for that last bit

There was nothing wrong with Bertha. It literally made landfall as a typical TS.

The nhc over the eastern Atlantic and eastern Pacific expects systems to maintain convection over a well defined LLC for days before upgrading them. Consistency is the point I am making. Alpha was a tropical cyclone for at least 24 hours and probably 30 and probably stronger based on the eye.

two tropical like systems (One near Portugal and one near Greece) are impacting land at more or less the same time, there has been multiple systems active in the Atlantic at the same time for weeks. Is it really that unbelievable that this is just an extraordinary Hurricane season, rather then reading in malicious intent to the NHC? What motive does NHC have for classifying storms unnecessarily?

Bertha made landfall as an intensifying system. If it had another day over the gulf stream it probably would have been a hurricane. Stop looking at the wiki page and look at the thread

All - drop the name debate here. Take it to TT. Keep this thread focused on the storm itself and not its name. Thanks.
