Can someone remind me which one this thread is focusing on? I'm completely confused. I'm thinking this is the one in the GOM, right?

Twenty-two will redefine the word meander.
And it will be the first Greek named storm to make landfall on the US mainland.
Looks like it will be Beta.
Still cannot believe Alpha was named in September. What a strange year.

Why is the NHC taking so long to upgrade to TS Betha?
BT already has it as a TS.

GFS and Euro in pretty tight agreement with the track out to 120h. Only question is if it will move up the coast overland or just offshore. IF one is to believe the models, of course.

Wow, Beta already, unreal, and it's only Mid-September.

Someone remind me how many Greek names that NHC uses?

That is correct, Alpha would NOT have been named. Not "yes it would have been", not maybe, just no. Soon we'll see a new genre of Greenland low pressure cells to begin getting named

It may have not been named, but it would have probably been classified in post-season analysis, just like the other unnamed storm that year. IMO

That is quite possible.

I mean, they'll go all the way down the alphabet if they need to - all 24 letters of it. 2005 required 6 Greek names, and would have required 7 had that subtropical storm been recognized operationally.

Let's hope we don't have to come up with a Plan C if the Greek names run out.

Anyone else notice this thing being shoved north/north east, further north than it's supposed to be right now? Is that shear?
