So when I went for a hike with the dogs at 10am this morning the center was near the south of the cdo, now it is at the edge of the north. Of course there was the center relocation, but you have to think something is happening to the shear direction.

Yeah the entire coast from Surfside up to Jamaica Beach is getting flooded from surge.

wow...we are starting to get long period swells and the surf is good only too much wind now. Hanna took out a lot of dune protection but made the surf better. https://www.nps.gov/media/webcam/view.htm?id=81B467E2-1DD8-B71B-0B91DCA0B089397B

Lol that tight inner core is just about gone now. Dry air penetrated the core and wiped it out. But that episode shows Beta is not as docile as it seems. Anytime a burst like that comes up over its core, it should be watched closely, because one of them might stick.

Dang that is looking serious.

When our highway 361 along the coast gets surge, Port Aransas gets cut off and if it's windy with surge the ferry boats will stop and you are stranded until the sun shines.

Well then, get ready to keep another close eye on Beta, because I believe another hot tower is starting to fire off. It’ll also be close to Dmax in a few hours and give Beta a boost.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Dmax won't be until a bit before sunrise tomorrow morning

It’s been a constant drizzle in Houston. Some streets and from driving 59 just now are starting to build water. If this gets harder and stays as constant we might have a bad situation here

Remembering Hanna I recall it looked similar to Beta when Hanna was to go 75 miles north of Corpus Christi and ended up 100 miles south of the city.

They both have the look of a football laying in the grass rather than ready to be kicked. Lots of high pressure to the north appears to guiding it like Hanna?

That area has had a half inch up to an inch and a quarter. If it's flooding already then something else is going on. What area of 59 are you in?

Not what I am seeing right now, but I guess that will change over time.

Due to the continued southwest to westerly shear
expected to affect the cyclone, which will keep the convection and
associated best pressure falls confined to the northeastern and
eastern quadrants or near the Texas coast.

That is probably shear from the later trough "near the Texas coast".

One assumption I made during the intensification phase that I have realized was flawed was that the low level and mid level centers had become aligned, resulting in what we observed. NHC advisory discussion states that wasn’t the case. Initially I was skeptical, thinking that they had aligned after recon left, but attempting to match radar to vis satellite shows they clearly are not. As Crazy said earlier, radar velocities measured that high up are not a reliable indicator of surface winds, even with a reduction factor. I definitely fell for it, haha

We're getting pretty good NE winds here today in the FL Panhandle from the pressure gradient, ruined my round of golf. :D

Sorta looks like to me at least on radar the center has been moving NNW the at least the past 30 minutes. Although it could be an illusion and it’s still going WNW.
