A 40 kt TS to an exploding 115 kt pinhole eye Cat 4 in only 24 hours...holy crap. Once they eye really starts clearing out, it will likely be mere hours before it becomes a Cat 5.

It’s possible that NHC underestimated the intensity yesterday before the first recon plane arrived, but still it’s an impressive RI.

I have been here since 2005, never has a cane increased from C2 10:59 to C4 11:25am this quickly. Not even Wilma, Rita,Kat,Irma,Dorian etc etc!!

This has to be a record, right? I admittedly haven't been tracking storms nearly as long as you have, but I have never seen intensification like this in any basin. My rather extreme 899 mbar prediction might be more realistic than I previously thought...

I’m still skeptical about sub-900 due to Delta’s size. Sub-930 I think is likely at this point. I’m praying for the folks in Mexico. I hate to see them going through this after a crappy tourist year due to the pandemic.

Considering its location and the pressure wind relations so far, a 165+ knot system would likely be below 900 mbar.

HWRF is forecasting this to punch thru the tropopause within 24 hrs.
Vertically stacked.
If holds true, will likely rank up there with the top WPAC monsters.
IMHO a better than 50/50 shot this goes sub 900 mb.

I just got an alert on my phone from the Weather Channel that Delta was upgraded to a Cat 3. Already outdated, shows how fast this storm is strengthening.

Even Levi is mentioning Galveston. We should still be concerned here in the Greater Houston Area.

I did get my roof replaced over the weekend and think I'll reschedule my remodeling plans until next week. Glad I didn't put my porch furniture back out. This year sucks.

I don't think anyone is sounding any alarms for us, but with the way this season has gone, and the continued west shifts in the Euro, I'm still paying close attention. It's not over until it dissipates as we all know.

Something else to think about. While the pressure could go sub 900, I don't think it could break Wilma's 882mb record. But I think it could challenge or even beat Allen's 190 mph wind record.

Why is it cut off at 100 hPa? Or is it just an illusion with all the packed isentropes where the stratosphere is.

Eye is drying out. RH dropped to 68% from 89%.
Delta is on a highway to hell.

So here’s a comforting thought: Delta is going through this ERI phase into a Cat 4, and the eye isn’t even clearing yet. Let that sink in.

Grand Cayman getting luckily With Cat 4 Delta passing to the SW the winds are gusting to 15mph. Cancun won’t be so lucky me thinks!!!
