Delta doesn't seem to want to have a solid inner core.

I mentioned either Tuesday or Wednesday about EWRC and core disruption due to land interaction. I had a good feeling that it would struggle to regain its former intensity once in the Gulf, but would instead start to broaden its wind field (like we are seeing). I’m not too surprised that is has struggled with max intensity compared to its time in the Caribbean.

Very sad. It’s hard seeing this happen to Lake Charles..a double hit. I love Lake Charles..we all love Lake Charles! This is expensive. But, it’s worth it. When we look at our pay stubs we can all know we each contributed to the recovery. When we see our Federal Tax Deductions on our pay, we can know that $1,100 for 2020 will be directly sent to the rebuilding of Lake Charles and it is well worth it! We love you Lake Charles..stand strong and stay tall..we are all with you! ❤️ For most of us, our entire next weeks worth of work or 1/2 week is for you! We gotcha!

The very high helicity will likely mix the strong higher level winds down to the surface.
Could see a large tornado outbreak and strong mesovorts on landfall.
Wind damage maybe more significant than expected for typically seen at this level of TC.

Yeah Baton Rouge area getting pounded most of the day with heavy rain, well away from the storm center. Could be bad news flood wise for that area if rain continues at that rate as the storm gets closer.

Yeh the problem we get is all the water that would normally be flowing out through the river tributaries get backed up due to surge, causing significant flooding further inland.

Look how much higher, and faster, the Comite river has risen, compared to what the forecast was.... And this is well before any storm surge

They must have closed a gate downstream, there are 50 ft levees in that area but down near the mouth of the river in Zachary where rte 22 crosses, the waterfront houses all sit right on the river at 5 to 10 feet.

Appears to be moving east of north now, just as was predicted for days.

Seeing evidence of a feeder band trying to form from the high CAPE pool to the south.
However, it maybe a bit too late.
The rest of the GoM showing more stable air.
Taking a toll on the core.
Recon has surface pressure up to 960mb.
Eye appears to be drying out a bit.
RH now at 56%.
Some of that maybe mixing in from the drier air recorded on the SW eyewall.
I think the bigger concern now is the high helicity.
