More sad news from Iraq=Chopper shot down 15 dead

More tragic news from Iraq as they shot down a US chopper with the result of 13 dead so far and 20 injured some in grave condition.IMO the situation in Iraq is far from being resolved and until Sadamm is captured or killed things will continue to be unstable there.

As I was flipping through the channels last night, I caught part of a discussion on one of the news cable programs about the numbers of people who are heeding Bin Laden's call for a jihad. This person remarked that people are pouring into Iraq from countries like Syria, Iran, Lebanon and parts of Africa. What I found interesting was that he also claimed that groups of people from Germany and France are joining this jihad. He also said that Afghanistan, which supposedly was becoming semi-stable after our war to rid the Taliban, is starting to crumble from within as well, too. Not a good situation over there.....

13 soldiers are dead, over 20 injured, some critically. Unfortunately, the Chinook they were on was headed to the airport to take them to their R&R. Most are from the 82nd airborne.

Yes I just saw the latest news about the incident and it is a sad sunday for america.I hope that none of the US soldiers dead or injured are from Puerto Rico because this island has recieved some bodybags already from that area.I think that outsiders are helping with the unstable situation there including AL-QAEDA.

are all heading to iraq. it is the one place where we can kill them first and ask questions later. also, it is better that we fight this war on their soil, than on ours. they declared war on us long before 9/11, and we have to fight against an enemy that wants our society annihilated. there can be no compromise or half measures.

I have a nephew over there right now, serving with the 101st. He's right in the middle of it all too. Last I heard they were doing police type work, going door to door. We are so very, very worried for him. Kris qualifies for a 15 day leave beginning late Nov. until mid Dec. I pray he can hold on for that. Each day as we read more and more soldiers are killed, it deeply saddens my family. Then you hold your breath, praying the whole time, and wait. I just emailed him. Hoping I get a quick reply. Then we can somewhat breathe a sigh of relief. For now.

Yes the death toll is up to 15 but it well may be higher as some of the wounded are in grave condition.IMO the US went into that country to get rid of that saddam regime but now they must stay to put that country in order and prosperity for the iraquies however with the sacrifices that the US men and woman are doing there.

I get MADDER AND MADDER every day that something happens. I am not a war monger or anything near it, but IMO IT IS TIME TO TAKE THE GLOVES BACK OFF AND TAKE CARE OF THE SITUATION ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!(I do realize this is much easier said than done!!) This is unfortunaltely turning into another Vietnam type situation, where there are no winners. We don't need that again and neither do our Vets, even with the changed atmosphere in the US. WE MUST, as some have said, STAY THE COURSE!!! We may never rid the world of terrorism, but we can darn sure put a big arse dent in it is it is done correctly!!!! WE DEFINITELY ARE NOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE END OF THIS CONFLICT, IMO!!!

Those b*****ds know what they are about, that's certain...they are playing to the idea that if they can get the American public tired of hearing about more of our soldiers being killed, we will run.

That may have played out during the last Administration, but not now...and it shouldn't anyway.

These "believers" have been trained since birth to hate us, and they won't stop attacking us wherever they find us, EVER. WE, on the other hand, have to show a resolve we haven't displayed since World War II, and we SHOULD.

The old French prognosticator, Michel de Notre Dame (Nostradamus), predicted this war and the manner of the first attack (he was two years off), and that the West would win...but it would take 27 years to do it. Get used to it, folks...the threat won't go away until we destroy the warped ideology that foments it, the Wahhabi sect of Islam.

Not all Muslims ascribe to it; it is, in truth, a minority of the whole, but it is ever-growing, reaching into Europe and right here at home....in prisons, storefront mosques in inner-city neighborhoods, and that's the scary part of it.

A very sad day indeed...I extend my condolences and sympathies to the families of those lost and injured. Blackhawks are tough choppers, they can take a lot, but Chinooks (like the one that was downed today) are not so fortunate. They are huge choppers with two very large rotor blades, and if one is taken out it a crash is very likely.. Add this to flying low and slow in a combat zone and you have a recipe for disaster. IMO they are a little bit too risky to fly in a combat zone; I think they should keep their distance from the known hostile areas.
