ATL: ZETA - Post-Tropical - Discussion

You hit it on the head Steve. I am in cut off about 30 miles north of Port Fourchon where they were predicting land fall. I think the landfall moved a bit west though to between Fourchon and dularge area. I’m thinking between Fourchon and Morgan city is in play. I just hope we get the eastern side because if it comes in over or just west of us NOLA will catch the eastern eye wall maybe.

Looking at the water vapor loop , You can see the trough digging into the Gulf now. Just a few more hours and the turn will start to the NNE and land fall somewhere around Biloxi or just east of there. IMHO

Not sure how that's a saving grace...that fast motion is why we're even getting winds in Atlanta in the first place. If it were a more typical slower storm, the winds wouldn't even make it here.

Sure, a faster storm will drop less in the way of rain, but Atlanta can barely handle any rain now anyway. We've had a ton of rain this fall, so our soils are completely saturated. Last Saturday showed us that just 2 inches of rain is going to cause significant flooding across the Atlanta metro. The last thing we need is another 2-4 inches from Zeta.

Inhibiting factors as well as steering can definitely be observed approaching from the west. Big question...can this have an effect on Zeta continuing to strengthen? http://tropic.ssec.wisc.edu/real-time/m ... anim=html5

I hope your prediction of landfall Biloxi or even east of there materializing but I don’t see how it will go that Far East for landfall. In this time frame you just can’t beat the accuracy of the NHC and they have landfall just south and west of me in Terrebonne parish it looks like to me.

I'm in the mountains of western NC this week...didn't get much tropical action in sofla this year but the center of zeta is coming overhead tomorrow...models looking like 4 inches of precip, 30-40knts of wind, not too shabby this far away...there is a low right behind it riding the front tomorrow afternoon. A S/W is passing through this morning moistening up the already wet ground so flash flooding should be a real issue tomorrow. Interesting 24 hours with three systems moving through in progressive fashion. By Friday, its all a faded memory.

Of Coarse the tip of Grand Isle will be first landfall but second in the area of Gulfport to Biloxi . I wonder if Vegas would take the bet .

I wonder if the falling heights moving in are making things more favorable for it to continue intensifying all the way to landfall.
Like everyone keeps posting an image of, is just an amazing presentation for so late in the season in the north central GOM.
