Been a jaw dropping storm to track but about to get way more serious than I thought for the Philippines, probably one of the higher end landfalls there

Colors of lost purpose on the canvas of irrelevance

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

The very latest frames indicate that shear has decreased significantly within the span of just the past few hours, especially on the northern and eastern sides.

I believe Meranti in 2016 also got a T8.0.

I think that was post analysis or there was an operational 8.0 fix?

Meranti never got a T8.0 from JTWC. They went with 170kt anyway based on SATCON. But still, no T8.0.
JMA gave a T8.0 for Meranti.
