1) TD29/Eta becomes a hurricane, landfalls and dissipates over CA
2) TD29/Eta becomes a hurricane, moves over CA, or stalls just offshore before moving NE
3) TD29/Eta becomes a hurricane, landfalls in CA, dissipates, moisture moves NE back over water, and develops into new TD30/Theta before moving NE

Either way it looks like a lock for a hurricane with a good shot at a major at this point.

But how strong?

For Eta, I'd say definitely a hurricane, decent shot at major

No way to know that. RI is super unpredictable.

OHC isn’t crazy high, but Eta will be going through a higher OHC pocket overnight through tomorrow, which could spark bursts of convection leading to greater organization and intensification.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

This is really going to come down to a few miles. Whether the steering is there to get it far enough inland to just offshore is like trying to predict in three days whether a severe hurricane is going to hit Miami or Ft Lauderdale in 72 hours. This is a tricky one to whether it will be a long-term threat.

.2 N from 18z. Not indicative of movement, but every degree may matter near CA.

I do think almost Eta has the chance of being wrong way Lenny when this is over.

Correct.
I’m kinda meh about Eta, and Theta, they all end the same as Zeta. Kappa and Lambda would be wild tho.

I keep having to deal with spellcheck changing Eta to Zeta. Even it’s meh on the name.

Since Eta would (probably) have an upgrade time of 00Z November 1, it would be a November storm?

I think so. Omar was considered one of the 10 named September storms even tho it was a TD end of August no?

I assume so? That's all for the better, too - this being 2020, we may have a shot at some November tropical cyclone records.

3rd storm (Iota) would tie the record. Let's not get another chance at a dreaded "I" storm!

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

All the power in this season has occurred during the second half of the season. Everything was weak and sheared and now everything is strong....

Started out producing tropical storms and now it produces powerful hurricanes. One after another!
