Glad you'se guys are enjoying the photos :D I'm sitting here looking out the north window and it's STILL coming down, a met on one of the Phoenix stations said NOT to expect ANY CLEARING anytime soon! One right after another, the systems are lined up, "take a number please!" This is GREAT! I went to the grocery store just a little bit, it was PACKED, ppl freaking out and out of ALL the ppl there, I only heard ONE complaint, figures, it was somebody up from Phoenix to work on their summer cabin, OH WELL, TOO BAD, DON'T LIKE IT......GO HOME

I think the storm in 1967 dumped even more snow. What is even more important though is the water content of the snow as that will determine what effects upon the current drought will be. The latest outlook from CPC on the drought calls for some improvement but water shortages will still be present. Powder snow will not have as much water as the heavy wet stuff. One positive factor is that rain storm in mid February which saturated the ground which means that runoff will occur but how much depends upon the water content of the snow.

with the Century only in its third year and considering how pitiful snowfall was the previous two years, this is by default the "Storm of the Century" though it's probably just a typical snowy winter storm.

Steve, this is a VERY WET, HEAVY snow, that's why the city had such a hard time clearing the roads, I've lost 2 trees so far, I thought we got to them in time  The UNOFFICAL total for me is 42" and it's STILL snowing, the snow advisory was just extended till midnight!

Wowsa! It's good news for the drought situation, but bad news for trees and power lines.

azsnowman - Thank you very much for posting those pictures. The "Cristmas Card" shot is great! Take care moving that snow around.

And, sorry about your snowblower, that is truly a bummer with all that snow! :?

Ya know, luck would have it, I "found" the part to fix the blower, now what are the odds of that on this mountain? about a 1000 to 1 :D ANYWAYS, get this.....this is the Gods honest truth, in JUST the last hour, I've received ANOTHER 4", can you believe that?? :o Seriously, this is INSANE!

OH....a funnel cloud was spotted just north of the Valley today, a young girl caught it on tape, very weird indeed!

Steve, I was living in Whiteriver back in 1967, we had over 5 feet down there, Whiteriver sits at an elevation of 5280 feet. Pinetop and surrounding communities had over 7 feet, ya know what, IF this keeps up and it looks like it IS......this will blow the blizzard of 67 right out of the weather books, no kiddin', the way it stands now, I only need another 37" to beat that and like I said, the way it's going, I should have that beat by, let's say, MONDAY!!

I'll post more pix tomorrow!

Wow how much actual water accumulation do you think this is? Will this completely erradicate your droughts?

No It Won't Eradicate the Drought

#18 Postby Aslkahuna » Sat Mar 01, 2003 1:25 am

which has been going on for some time. It would take the equivalent of an extra year and 1/2's worth of rain in addition to normal rainfall to do that which in the case of the White Mountains would mean that they would have to get on the order of 60 inches worth of water to do so-not likely to happen soon.
