Is it my eyes doing the radar voodoo or does this storm appear to be tracking somewhat north of the projected path?

nope...you are right...been keeping just a bit north or projections all day, not much but enough for everyone down there in South Florida to get more of the worse of it than originally thought

Appearances sure aren’t everything. Despite looking horrible with very shallow convection, recon is finding 65 kt FL and 55-60 kt SFMR winds this pass.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

The strongest winds seem to be on that eyewall feature and it's still heading NW.

Latest center fix shows that Eta is moving more WNW instead of NW.

All I can say is it's been a very active wind/rain event since this afternoon here in SW Broward and, for now, things are a bit calmer. Just can't help but wonder what's in store for us during the overnight hours.

It does seem to making that left turn. I would guess it will be almost due west by midnight.

This morning it looked like we were going to have a strengthening hurricane in Key West, now we may not even see sustained tropical storm conditions. It looms like the backside will be the worst we will see, and that wont happen until almost daybreak.

Looking up and down my street, it's hard to recall a flooding event this significant since Wilma.

Is that little bit of convection popping off just north of the center due to land friction at all as the eye scrapes the southern tip of the peninsula.

National Weather Service: A FLASH FLOOD WARNING is in effect for this area until 1145 PM EST. This is a dangerous and life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Wow that’s a heck of a comparison. Are you safe from it?

That curfew link says for civil unrest, dated May 31?
