Core only needs to reach the 250mb heights for this to become a concern for FL again, as Levi mentioned.

For those that were asking, the record for longest November tropical system is 13 days, tied twice. If this makes it to Saturday, a new record. ETA is not done yet.

Eta is the gift that keeps on giving. Like a bad night out in Vegas. Go take a look at the 00z HMON. Eta wants to welcome Tom Brady to his new home.

Other than radar data, is there any evidence that this was even close to 55 knots at landfall in the Keys? The Carysfort Reef Light was/is elevated, not at 10 m.
The problem with using radar data is that it measures winds aloft, and those winds aloft are not easily translated down to the surface lacking heavy squalls around the center.
What would you personally estimate as the maximum sustained winds at 10 m in South Florida and/or the Keys?

Massive amount of lightning in the core.
Continuous, rapid-fire vortical hot towers.
Looks stalled out.

Shear dropping.
ULL dissipating from convective debris that fired over Cuba.
Appears to have developed a dryline convective shield.
Dry air pushing east and not able to penetrate into the core.
