I stayed away from the site for the last day because I'm super jealous of everyone.
Sitting a couple of miles from dfw intl and nothing stuck. I saw some fall but it was just a cold rain to me....

Glad everyone else had fun.
I told my wife, that was the last strike. next year we are going somewhere cold sometime in the winter.

Could someone give me the quick basics on reading modeling sounding viewer? You know the one with the up and down line and how it relates to snow?

And can someone share the link where the GFS data is shown by the hour through the 300 or so hour period. It shows precip, type of precip, temps, etc. I used to have it bookmarked and can't find it anymore! I don't even remember what the name was.

Thank you but this was a text only output that would show each hour. For example:

Hour 4 .3 QPF Snow 30degrees 80% humdity

Something like that and it was just for the GFS. It may be something that they are doing away with since they are switching but I am not sure.

After watching models and trends, I bolted for the lake yesterday morning and got there right when it started snowing. Looking at my ring Camera its a good think because the car in our driveway barely had a dusting before melting.

I just got back home and am glad to see all the photos of those that got snow and sad for that that didn't and weren't able to chase.

Here are 3 from mine. Although it's not the best of photos, I really like the night sledding one because we've never done that after dark and had a blast last night. I lovethe last photo because of what its doesn't show, an entire lake behind them obscured by heavy snow

Great pictures yeah that's why I had to go drive too I couldn't sit out those rates lol

Yeah it looks like it’s trying to push it back to next Monday or Tuesday. At least the models are showing a lot of below normal temps though.

No precip for us but “freezing fog” is in the overnight forecast. And I have to say in the 37 years I’ve lived in Austin, I cannot remember a time when we had freezing fog in one of our forecasts. Crazy.

So, back out of lurking mode to post some pics of our snow in East Texas. I moved a bit south of Longview to Lake Cherokee in northern Rusk County a few years ago. Here are some pics yesterday evening and this morning. The last one is in southern Rusk County near Mt. Enterprise. We had about 4" at our house on the lake with 6-8" down in the southern part of the county. You can tell that the pine trees were really weighted down with the snow. Sorry for the delay, but we just go power back on from the storm.

Honestly as much as I kinda discount the icon. I did pretty well on the track of last weekend.

It was the first one to show the central texas trend for this storm and the west trend for the New Years system. It does pretty good. It may not be right at the specifics but it seems decent at the upper level performance

Don’t discount the ICON. I very much tossed it aside last week because I didn’t like what it showed but it was the only model to not show accumulation for my house, which is what happened.

I do have to give it credit. I’m not usually very impressed by its performance, and I definitely discounted it, but it was one of the first to lock onto the southern track consistently.
