Tecumseh is east of Norman on OK-9, my home is around 4 miles west of town. (No, I'm not telling you exactly where!)

Wherever it is east of the OKC keep posting! We welcome and value our friends from Oklahoma even here in the Texas thread. Often you guys foreshadow what we can look forward to seeing when these cold blasts come from the North.

Agreed, I check kfor(channel 9) and the OKC nws often for weather updates. It's good to have some ground reports for Central Oklahoma.

Fox 4 Evan Andrews just threw in the towel. Said models don't know what's going on and after having forecasted arctic airmasses in DFW it's always colder. So here we go.

He was not to excited about ice overnight but was mentioning some travel issues perhaps in my area.

DFW airport now down to 30F with NNW winds still going. This is about where OKC was sitting yesterday and prior thought was they would warm up to 40.

This is just the first push of modified Arctic air. The real cold air arrives Sunday afternoon/evening. Coldest will be Mon-Tue.

Quietly I'm agreeing with you on the cold. Being a runner this weather sucks. But the other part of me loves this stuff snow or not. Just refreshing and break from summer.

The real cold air arriving Sunday afternoon/evening, is that arrival timeframe for the Houston area?

Temperature at Fort Worth Meachem airport is 28 now, 30 at Alliance airport at 29 at my home in between those two.

That's 4-5 degrees below the NWS Forecast graph right now, so at that rate North Fort Worth wouldn't get above freezing today unless there are breaks in the clouds correct?

Freezing line continues to slowly slosh through DFW. When does the retreat start? Or does it hold strong? Given the extremely shallow nature of the cold, any breaks in the clouds would probably be enough to start some modification.

Very cool to see that some people got ice on their cars. We're still stuck in the upper 30s down south of the Metroplex

It's a tricky forecast. Models were too slow with the cold air. Some even tried to bring the front back North but it's likely to clear even the central and southeast part of the state to an extent. Only a few hundred miles difference. As long as the CAA continues it will be hard to warm up.

Another piece is as precip ramps up will it bring some warmer air down from above? The sub-freezing air is close to the ground and shallow, if it holds firm then there is potential for an impactful icing event.

HaHa! You shouldn't tell me exactly where:) Temp down to 29 degrees at my house in Alliance area, I live in a Keller zip code in the city of Fort Worth so the area is known more as Keller. I'll just start saying I live in the Alliance area.

The first front is already nearing College Station. Temps are in the 40’s almost immediately behind it.

Typically, blocking results in a more stable pattern and higher confidence in model output and forecast. However, the position of the TPV under the block with an active Pacific jet undercutting it is like trying to keep a bowling ball at the top of a steep slope against a wall with a firehose lol

When would be the potential impactful icing event? I'm at work in Plano near Coit/West Plano Pkwy and it's 30 degrees here. And a WWA. If it might get worse later today then I'll want to plan to leave early and finish the day from home. For us Cajuns, ice is something we put in our drinks and freeze into daiquiri's and snoballs(snow cones/shaved ice for everyone else). :)

Why'd you kill the snow/sleet for the Houston area? I see the models have backed off of it, where it was previously showing a Monday night flurry possibility. You're not supposed to do that if you're in Australia.
