@NWSSanAntonio — 5:08 AM showers and thunderstorms are increasing over South Central Texas with areas of freezing rain possible north of a line from Carta Valley to Kerrville to Round Rock. Travelers of the Hill Country should use extra caution!

@GrantJNBC5 — Road conditions are not good across much of Dallas county. Icy spots have developed from Dallas and to the east and south. From Fort Worth to the west and farther north, not as bad. #NBCDFWWeather

Midland area...

————-
@BrendenMincheff — I slipped and fell HARD on the ice outside my apartment this morning. Folks, it’s seriously icy out here. Main roads are mostly alright with only patches of ice, but side roads, sidewalks, and parking lots are skating rinks! ⛸

Please be safe this morning!

@TxDOTDallas — TxDOT crews are actively treating mainlanes, overpasses and bridges across the Dallas District. Please give them plenty of room to work and use caution if you must travel this morning. There are numerous reports of ice/snow on roadways in our area on DriveTexas.org.

@TxStormChasers — 533AM: Latest winter weather/travel advisories for this morning. Conditions should improve EXCEPT for the Hill Country and southern North Texas. Those areas may end up having more substantial icing issues this afternoon as heavier freezing rain/sleet develops. #ctxwx #txwx

I am in central Arkansas. Thunder sleet started about 3am. I have video but don't know how to put it on here. Roads are covered with sleet and freezing rain now.

I posted this on my FB weather page along with my forecast graphic.

"I did not realize the true magnitude of this Arctic outbreak until I laid the forecast out. Here is what I see for Lindale for the next 10 days though it applies to the East Texas area in general.
3 key points
1. Frozen precip- 4 rounds (ice today, sleet Saturday, snow Sunday/Monday and mix Wednesday)
2. Extreme cold- Sub zero low possible with below 0 wind chills Monday and Tuesday
3. Duration of cold- 130 (Sunday to Thursday) to as much as 250 (Today to next Saturday) hours consecutive below freezing.
This is a dangerous situation with severe infrastructure, agriculture and worst humanitarian impacts. I hope you are already prepared and if not do so tomorrow when the weather is the best. Be careful out on the roads this morning as I am hearing of slick spots especially on bridges."

Well, school going on as normal. No ice fell whatsoever in north FW. Temp down to 25! Uh oh. Of course I got missed again, which makes about the 5th time in a row over the past few years. Folks east got a snow day. Lol. Be careful on the ice if you got it.

No school for my daughter so I get a day off. Temps are a few degrees lower than forecasted this morning. Doubtful we get to freezing today.

I think I have a bit of a sunburn this evening. Great day at the beach. I hear it’s cold in Texas? The real winter weather arrives Sunday afternoon/evening. Should be all over Monday afternoon, followed by bitter cold. I’m hoping our butler (Jarvis - who we left behind) can have one last shower early Monday morning before the pipes would freeze. Then we’re having him shut off the water as we just spent $$$$$$ on new wood flooring that will be installed by Friday.

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

From NWS in FW for Sunday / Monday

Using a combination of the National Blended Model along with
other ensemble mean data creates fairly widespread storm totals of
3 to 6 inches from Sunday through Monday, with the highest totals
along the Red River. In reality, some areas could receive
significantly more while others significantly less, and it`s still
too soon pinpoint these details. After coordinating with
neighboring offices, the consensus was that 84 hours in advance is
too soon for any headlines, so the event will be emphasized in a
Special Weather Statement and highlighted with graphics and
social media posts with this package. Significant travel impacts
would result from such a storm, especially if models begin to
trend toward the higher snow totals.

A few sleet showers this morning but nothing too bad as far as freezing rain/drizzle IMBY.

Pretty good agreement between the Euro & GFS of a low near 0F for DFW next Tuesday :cold:

GEFS cut back snow totals for N. Texas and is now more n line with the EPS. Both are pointing at two potential events next week.
