Can you explain that a bit more? I like to think I’ve gotten pretty decent at reading these soundings but I’m not familiar with that. Does omega refer to the saturation of the column? And I’m guessing the dgz is somewhere in the 850-700mb zone?

National Radar already picking up snow in NW Texas & SW Oklahoma!

Prediction time: While I think it could be more, for snowfall up along the Red River near Denison, I'm going with 5-8” for the first storm and 8-12” for the second storm. Total storm accumulation between the two could approach 18-20”, but I’ll be a little more conservative (for now) in the 13-17” range.

I'm also going to go ahead and say that tomorrow evening, the Fort Worth NWS office will issue its first ever blizzard warning for somewhere in North Texas.

As for cold, I'm going with a low temperature on Tuesday morning of -4 in Sherman/Denison. If high temps are lower than currently forecast for Monday, I’d look for a low of -5 to -7 here (given sufficient snow cover and light enough winds).

I'm going with 6-9" in the first storm with a possible Blizzard Warning in and around the Metroplex and 7-12" for the second storm. lowest temperature of -3 for DFW

So someone explain something to me, if it's possible. The NWS message just posted mentioned sporadic, but temporary power outages due to icing, my paid weather service basically mirrored that message, but on here, it seems people are really concerned about it, enough to buy generators. I'm on the fence about a generator, and I know I can buy and return if I don't use it, but I'm trying to convince myself I need one here in NW Houston.

I lived in Houston for 25 years, Had a back up generator 10 of those years, Yes you need a generator in Houston if for nothing else hurricanes.

Several models have been showing that, but the NWS refuses to bite for whatever reason.

Snow line now right along US-281 from Lawton to I-40 (Near Hinton) with heavier pockets!

Is a PDS Winter Storm Warning now possible with the snow coming earlier than expected!?

Comfort TX Hill Country. High today has been between 2322.6 and 25.2 but fairly dry. Started getting freezing drizzle about an hour ago. Interesting the temp went up a full degree during that event. We already have about 1/4" of ice on everything. Now I see an occasional snowflake drift by as well.

For those that dont know, Comfort is about 50 mi NW of SATX and we are at 1970 ft elevation and on the north side of I10 about 4 miles.

They're up on North Shore, even elevated by about 100 feet so it could get interesting for them.

Just be careful seeing a few returns and jumping to the conclusion that the storm is juicier than expected. It doesn’t always correlate.

Almost didn’t catch it but just noticed the NWS forecast just changed at my house for Sunday night. This afternoon it was 3-5 inches, now 2-4.

Would love to see them miss low...
