I'm going with -2F also. DFW's lows have been running quite cold for this outbreak so far despite the urban heat island vs official forecast.

At approximately 1:25 a.m. this morning, ERCOT entered its third and highest level of emergency operations because electric demand is exceeding the available supply. Controlled outages are occurring to protect the electric grid from uncontrolled, cascading outages.

While the grid operator was already contending with frozen wind turbines and limited gas supplies to generating units on Feb. 14, a significant number of additional generating units tripped offline when the weather worsened overnight.

Approximately 34,000 MW of generation has been forced off the system during this event.

Controlled outages will likely last throughout the evening and into tomorrow as ERCOT works to restore the electric system to normal operations.

Since 7 am I’ve only had one hour where my power is on. Fortunately it was enough to warm my apartment back to a decent level, but with the sun going down it’s going to get cold fast.

Spent some time playing in the ice/snow with my family earlier. After a chilly low of 15, we managed to briefly climb to 25 at one point. Back down to 19 now and it's going to drop quickly as the winds die down. I'm glad I drained my pipes. Fortunately, we still have power and I am extremely grateful for that. I'm on the CenterPoint grid (blocks away from Entergy). Last I heard they had 1.2 million customers without power.

I hope that all of you are enjoying this fun winter weather. Freezing cold, no electricity for millions, no water for many. Fun, fun, fun! This never happens in July.

Had power for about an hour today, high was 13, NWS low is -2, hi res in single digits, GFS and Euro show average of -8. GFS 16 has -12. Def not discounting the very low values considering deep snow pack and this outbreak's history. House is 56, if power is not restored kinda scared of how low the house will go. Have had all faucets running since Saturday. Nothing frozen that I can tell so far.

This has all caused enough stress that I haven't studied Storm 2 at all. I am sure hoping it's minimal ice. And honestly not sure I'd be disappointed if it busts. We all need a break. On top of that I have a final job interview first thing in the morning. Talking to a company in SFL. Sure as hell not my dream locale but I'll travel back west plenty.

SFL temps are currently in the upper 70s. Sounds great, to me. Hope you get the job.

July can have its own weather that not only causes millions to lose power, and possibly have water disruptions, but also flood thousands of homes and/or completely destroy them. I forget what those things are called. Cat something in the gulf? :D
